Here's what you need:
X2 2liter bottles
Cut one in half and cut a hole so your birds can stick their
head in it.
Fill the other bottle to the desire level with feed or water and
then slide the one you just cut over it, now tip it and let your
birds get fat lol.

Nice......mine are of the same princeable but i use a 2 lb.
plastic coffee can , two 2 x2 in. slots 1 1/2 inch from the
bottom of the can for drinking, use a 1 gallon heavey plastic
round fruit juice jug upside down to hold the water... the jug
will only slip in to the coffee can 1 1/4 of an inch from the
bottom............

Both ideas sound very practical. But, what do you do when it's
cold enough for the water to "freeze"??

I use these same type homemade waterers for my individuals. I
have found that if you use a gatorade type bottle for the bottom
piece it is much more sturdy and stable as it is ribbed instead
of straight flimsy plastic as the soda bottle is. Both work
well when full but when they get lower on water the ribbed
gatorade bottle helps with stability. Plus these are a great
way to recycle, they are free, and you can make them while
watching football, etc. on TV! Don M macsrollers Enjoy your
next fly!!
