Pretty easy to see the foot now - doesn't seem to phase him very
much - don't kill him if it isn't affecting him or his
performance - If You don't want him just because of a bad foot
I'll gladly trade you a bird for him - also - I have plenty of
youngsters ...... are You going to be training with your
portable throughout the Minnesota winter ? The fiance seen me
looking at this and I explained she says " Oh Neat " ;D

I had flew a few kits in the past with somewhat great success
but lost many to rookie mistakes lol. I usually set it on top of
my car and I will be flying them through winter to try to get
them enough air time. The last kit I flew at the school parking
lot by John Johnson's house was probably my best kit I had put
up in the last 8 months of flying portable. That kit consisted
mostly 2011 birds so not much activity but good kitting.
Hopefully I'll have a kit up to fly next year in the local flies
and possibly the nbrc fly.

Here you guys go. Take a peek at this. 5 of the 8 birds are
young birds and I've only had those 5 ybs for a total of 5
weeks. They are well trained now though and doing well. The last
guy sure took his time though but it was because I overfed them
yesterday and didn't plan to fly them today (due to the Packer
games) but decided to not be lazy so I flew them today anyhow.

There was once a club in Massachusetts that tried to hold
Portable kit competitions. Don't know if anything ever came out
of it but this is more of a side project. With the upcoming
year, my focus and efforts will be to try and see if I can get
an 11 or 20 bird kit for the NCF next year but I will always fly
portable no matter what.

Do your birds stay in the portable kit all the time or just when
you take them out to fly? I'm intriqued by the portable kit
flying, though I can't make it work with my current schedule. I
wouldn't be able to train every day and I suspect that is key to
their acclimating to the portable.

Flying portable, if done correctly, isn't too hard. If done
improperly, good luck.
As for time, it's not as time consuming as it looks. Spend 10
mins feeding every day, 10 minutes cleaning once a week, and
then after two weeks, start trap training. You will need to
train them every day or at worst 5 times a week for two weeks
and you'd probably get it.
It can be done. I only spend 30 mins a day with them now. 20mins
for flying and 10 mins to feed and drive to and from the park :)
. It's a good life.
And yes, the birds stay there 24/7.
