That's pretty cool! Tell us how it you use it. How do you
transport it and so forth. Was it difficult to get the birds to
settle to it?

Excellent man. I really need to record mine and upload it. I'll
try to do it Monday. It looks like a nice warm day, we'll see
what happens. I just don't get around to it, that's all. Keep it
up and good luck.

Thanks tony, my first portable was basically a large plastic dog
kennel. My first one was just too big for my small vehicle so I
decided to make a new one that will fit the trunk of my car and
make it as light as possible. The sides are made of canvas with
one side as the main door for releasing and as a service door
and the side flap/canvas is for letting light in. Total OD
dimensions are 2'deep x 30"long x 1'tall and on the inside I use
1"x1" wire. This portable approximately 7-8lbs with no birds. Ok
so to how train my birds. It is always easier to start them
young, like to start them right around 4wks old. Put them on top
of the portable and let them stay there for 10-15mins and call
them in, you can either whistle or shake the feed can. The first
time you do this you are going to have to put them through the
trap 2-3 times while giving the feed signal. Usually on the
third or fourth day, all your ybs should be familiarize with the
feed signal. The one(s) that don't trap right away will be
picking up left overs and trap faster at the next feeding
session. I usually don't force the ybs out of the portable once
their trap train but if they don't come out on their own at the
end of the week of training then I would grab them and put them
on top of the portable. You might have to do this 2-3 Times til
they will understand what you expect from them when the door is
open. It will take a few weeks til your ybs will take off and
fly so be patient and don't rush anything. I would like to also
add that I do not use a settling cage and you could train old
birds to the portable just make sure you tape off the primary
flights but I highly do not recommend this at all. I'm still new
at this portable thing and what I do or how I train my birds may
be different from other portable flyers.

The black mix flight has a deformed foot, I would brake up that
matting.

Yeah its foot is deform but its older siblings never had had any
problem. I was going to kill it when it was around two weeks old
but decided not to.

The Black One - Is that the one with the messed up foot - didn't
even catch that in the Video - was watching more of what the
birds were doing .... Mike ( I never had any issues if it is the
one off that pair ? )

Neat. Have you tried to take the portable to different
locations yet and how is it working?? Do you put it on top of a
platform or just on the ground, when flying from a different
site?? Thanks for showing..
