I want to put togethere a 5 year breeding program for my rollers
now thats said I will be working with two familys one will be
Rubys and the othere will be Mee birds I have talk to Tony on
this and he has gave me some great Ideas and so has Mr Thom to
start out I will not be mixing the familys just working with
both I will be breeding in pair breeding pins not an open loft
so I dont have to worry about crossing familys I just think
both familys have a great back ground and I will be able to
build great kits buy using both familys I could be wrong but it
is worth my time to find out I would love to here Ideas on how
you think I should go about doing this as far as line breeding
or how the great roller guys on here do this. This will be a
long term breeding program and will take a lot of time and
record keeping so any help with sites to help me keep track of
this will also help what I want in the end is good kiting birds
with a good 20 to 30 foot spin to them I like deep birds but I
know it takes them to long to return to the kit thanks for your
help in this and I hope to here some great Ideas soon

accomplish anyway??

Scott, I would recommend flying each family separately. The
flying habits and feeding requirements of the Mee's are going to
be different from the Ruby's. Trust me, I know...lol ;D

Birdman,
In what respect do they differ and can you share how you feed
your mees differently from your rubys? I also fly a few mees,
but my main family are ball/turners.

Terry, the Mee's are prone to low, slow flying and as youngsters
if I'm feeding them mix mine don't elevate like some of the
other families that I've flown. However, once they do elevate
they stay at a perfect height and rarely go over 300' or so.
They seem to know exactly where that zone is and stay there
flying in a beautiful, slow pattern. Perfect for setting up the
breaks when they start rolling!
With other families I can get away with feeding the youngsters
mixed feed nearly every day but not the Mee's until they are a
bit older and have learned to elevate. If they don't want to
elevate I cut the amount of mix with milo until they are flying
at the right height again.

birdman thanks for the info on feeding the mees I have ran in to
this problem my self they seem to like to stay low or not fly
much at all until you get ther feed just right
