       National Championship Region 4 Qualilfiers

Congratulations to Mel Stalzer and Wayne Feder for qualifying in
Region 4. And kudos to John Elton for Q and D of 1.8! That would
have been something to see! It was also good to see the judge
unafraid to post Q and D multipliers that are separated by a few
tenths. There is usually a tendency to give teams the same Q and
       D, or only a difference of .1

Yes, gotta give Eldon Cheney his due for that. He's the first
judge I've seen that has give a difference of 0.4 in terms of Q
and D and this is the first time I've seen a Q and D of 1.8 and
1.8 given out. Wish I was there to see the kit. I saw John
Elton's B kit but not his A team.

       Tou,
That tells me that the judge did a little thinking about the Q
and D, instead of just giving a knee-jerk response in assigning
values. It's not always true.....some kits just plain earn
numbers in the same range....and there are a lot of kits that
are average and similar in Q and D. But I definitely think it's
a good sign when we see some separation in some of the bonus
       awards.

I am just speeking out loud, for a D = 1.8, the depth of the kit
must have been over 50 plus feet. Has this kit in the past
scored high for the depth multiplier! I never seen the kit and I
am just asking if anybody has. Thanks.

Jay, John Elton is known as having the deepest birds here in the
Midwest. I saw his B kit only and didn't see his A kit.
What I can say is that Eldon Chaney has only given out a 1.8D
once in his lifetime of judging rollers and John Elton's was
       just the 2nd time he's handed out a 1.8D.
According to guys like Wayne Feder, Co Thor, and even Mike
"Superior Spinners", it's not out of the ordinary to see not
just a few pigeons but John's ENTIRE KIT spin 40'-80' feet. I'm
assuming the kit must have been performing like this.
Again, all you have to do is look at Wayne's Q&D compared to
John's and you know there's a big difference in overall quality
and depth. Wayne Feder received a 1.6 and 1.2 while John Elton
       got a 1.8 and 1.8.
I wish I was there to see that...

I wish I was there also. That must've been some awsome kit. I
wish I will have a kit like that some day. And I wish the score
sheet is designed to provide all this info we are asking like
the exact depth, wing position and quality, kit chemistry, and
       the speed rather than guessing.

[/quote] Jay, I have been to John's at least 20 times and he
has the best Q. and D. I have seen . Do they perform like that
all the time... no.. no one's does, that's where the trainer
comes in and he's one of the best. He has a lot of very deep
birds that roll with great style and zip right back to the kit,
if anyone of you are in his area, give him a call he loves to
fly his birds and if they are on you will be smilling!!!
