Winter is coming

Soon there will be frost on the pumpkin. In the good ole days
I'd build one of the little boxes and install a light bulb to
keep the water above freezing. Now that incadescent bulbs are
on the way out, what do you guygs have planned for water
warmers?
Added to the mix the fact that I now use plastic waterers.
I'm looking for ideas as this winter I'll be gone by daylight
and not home till after dark.

Hey Mark, I just used a meat thermometer on a 60 watt florescent
spiral bulb, it read 120 degrees. I do not see why you can not
use what your are used to.

Mark......... I do the same thing as Thom . I only run into a
problem if the temps get down in the low teens or single
digets... I start off using a low watt bulb. Then, I increase
the bulb wattage when needed...

Most of us aren't that lucky so we have to find alternative
solutions. lol

do use plastic waters also. I have made wooden boxes that I set
the water on over a hole and under the hole is the light bulb. I
leave the water jugs in 24/7. Iam just above mid Ohio by the
way.

hay mark,
1 of my old club member used a 15 watt bulb and it was between 2
small breaks and he used plastic square bowls and it seem to
work out for him ...........donnie james p.s.i pull my water
jugs at night and fill them in the mornings

I just purchased a 3 gallon plastic waterer with built in heater
and thermostst for $22 to replace my aging metal waterer. I know
you will ask me where I got it from but I don't know when is the
next time I will sign on. I get it from a place called "Ruler
King" just like Tractor Suply outfit.
