I purchased Tony's book yesterday and am awaiting it's arrival.
I have just finished my loft and am very anxious to get some
good stock. It has been 30 years since I last had any rollers,
and now have the time to spend with them.

Hi Cgosch, you should be getting it from them soon, they were on
back order with our printer and are now completed. My guess is a
couple more days and you will have your copy. :D

Hi George, like I mentioned in the advertisement, the book is a
bit technical because it introduces and discusses 3 key concepts
not normally associated with roller pigeons (but very
applicable). It also requires the ability to think in an
abstract manner. However, once you get your mind around these 3
key concepts, I believe you will gain valuable insight.
I believe this insight will allow you to more fully understand
and appreciate where I am going with the critical 7 Step Loft
System. So when applied to your own loft and activities, the 7
Step Loft System provides a solid foundation which can help
guide your thinking and decisions so that faster progress and
control can be exerted over your breeding program.
Here are the 3 key concepts offered:
1: The Pareto Principle aka The 80/20 Rule
2: Theory of Constraints
3: Systems Thinking
Here is the 7 Step Loft System:
Step 1: Acquiring Stock Birds
Step 2: Breeding Stock Pairs
Step 3: Weaning and Training Young Birds
Step 4: Culling Young Birds
Step 5: Training Holdover Birds
Step 6: Culling Holdover Birds
Step 7: Selecting New Breeding Stock
Here are the 5 Primary Traits:
1: Roll
2: Velocity
3: Depth
4: Control
5: Type
The idea is that everything we do when it comes to our pigeons
can be placed in one of the 7 steps. This helps place the
activity in some sort of context as to how it relates to the
greater whole. My premise is that, if faster progress is made,
hobbyists have more fun and experience a higher level of
satisfaction. So rather than quit the hobby because they are
frustrated and discouraged through lack of knowledge,
perspective and results, they continue in the hobby and derive
more fun and satisfaction from it.
Now, how well I did in my efforts is to be decided on an
individual basis. I have heard from many over the years that
they have enjoyed the book and that they have gained valuable
insight and refer back to the concepts often.
At some point I will update it and come out with version 2.0.

Thanks for the update Tony. I have been very anxious to learn
all I can. I have read articles and books from Pensom, but am
also looking for ideas from other experienced roller men.
