Kit "routing" Need help

Okay, up until a couple days ago, my kit had been flying for
about 30-60 minutes in the morning and evening, just flying in a
figure eight pattern above our house like they are supposed to.
They were kitting and rolling great. But then about a week ago,
when I was flying them one evening and 8 wild pigeons came
flying over our house and my kit joined their flock and they all
disappeared into the distance. Then about 5 minutes later, my
kit returned, circled and landed. Now,when I let them out, they
circle several times and then take off flying in the direction
that the wild pigeons took them. Then they come back, circle and
take off again until its time to eat. They also don't roll as
much. I know for sure that they are not landing anywhere. They
get a milo/wheat mixture and I have been reducing their feeding
times. I would really appreciate your help in figuring this
problem out. Thanks,Joe
Ps. I only have a 4 bird kit at the moment but I have a couple
youngsters I will be adding to it.

Hey rolldown, apparently your birds are seeing something and
being distracted. Hold them in for several days and then let
them out really hungry. Hungry enough to where they are flying
only over your backyard. Let them land early, get them in after
they land. Do this for a few days and see if they break this
pattern. Also, add some other birds, this might help them stay
preoccupied. Good luck! :-\

Joe, four birds is a small kit. Easily distracted by other
pigeons. As your kit size increases I think this problem will
take care of itself. On the other hand I have some Doucet/Cooper
birds that will regularly "route" when around 4-6 months old.
The little peckers give me a heart attack, they will disappear
for up to an hour! But they are next to impossible to lose! A
couple of years ago when flying the fall regionals as soon as I
let them out
I got hit with 30mph hour gusts and 20mph sustained winds. I
watched the kit disappear
behind some trees almost a mile to the north. Well quite
sometime later I watched them clawing there way back to the loft
almost at ground level using every tree & bush for a wind break.
Got them all back!

I flew them this morning after reducing their feed last night
and they flew much better than before. I also noticed one bird
who seems to be leading them out farther than I want so I'll be
keeping an eye on him. Thanks for your help!
