a word of caution on seed wheat, milo, and many grains... a lot
of grain intended for planting can have been treated for growth
and or insects ect. a short time back i had a hard time finding
milo local , i found some a ways off and told them i wanted it
for pigeons after a 60 mile trip , on the tag it clearly stated
chem. treated.... needless to say i found some else where....

Good heads-up warning! I always buy the same brand from the same
feed store. But if they were ever out and I have to go
elsewhere, your warning is good for me and everyone else to
remember! Thanks! :D

Your right Tom .. on seed grains you want to make sure it is
non-treated .

Tony....I have my feed mixed, to what ever grains I want. 2
years ago I started this (1) because it was far less expensive
the regular pigeon mix and (2) I could get what ever grains I
wanted to be mixed, I buy 500lbs at a time. The first time I
ordered my feed I had used "white wheat". It was very late in
the year so my flying season was at end. But, the following
spring when I started to fly my birds I noticed a "problem". At
first I thought it was just because they hadn't been out for
afew months. But, the more I watched them, the more I noticed
that they were flying like my "homers" making very wide circles
and not rolling at all. Like MOTHERLODELOFTS stated, My birds
were flying TOO STRONG. I changed from "white" back to "red"
wheat and they started flying like "rollers" not "homers". Just
my opinion

I found this is pretty informative. Been mixing my feed since
day one.
My feed guy got me some feed wheat. It's more consistent in
nutrients and price.
