Not sure if this is the right forum please move to the correct
forum. My question is what makes a hen die in the breeding pen.
       They were raising one squab.

Hey Mach, a hen can stress while breeding. Immune system weakens
and bird get sick. Could enteritis, paratyphoid, e-coli,
       salmonella perhaps even PMV.
It is also possible she choked a large grain or seed while
trying to feed babies. Was her vent area feather clean or
stained? If she had debris and so forth there, she was probably
sick from one of the above mentioned illnesses. You might want
to clean everything and monitor the other birds for illness and
be ready to treat your flock...Good luck!
PS: This was the right section to post your question.
