when will i know my birds molting

i have 20 birds tat i am currently flying and i don't want to
stress them during their molting season. how will i know they
are molting

I know my birds are starting to molt when all the feathers start
showing up. My birds are starting to molt right now.

Marvin, you will know that your birds are moulting when you see
lots of feathers in the kit box/loft. You can still fly your
birds provided they have not moulted thier 1st 3-4 primary
feathers and the new primaries are not in the stage of having
blood in the shafts. All birds in the wild including pigeons
still fly during the moult! Many will tell you not to fly your
birds while they are in the moult, I fly mine, Im just giving
you my opinion.

You can still fly them while they are molting,you can tell when
they are molting by the look of them.When you see that their are
feathers missing from parts of the body,wing,head,and see small
little spouts of feather growing everywhere.Thats when they are
molting.

Be careful flying your old birds during the moult. They get a
little goofy during the moult and will do stupid things like
bump. When the last primaries are coming in it really hurts
them...When I first started I flew through the moult and I
injured a couple good birds from bumping. The moult will also
slow down when you fly because the nutrients go to the bird to
recoup the energy lost from flying.....instead of putting the
nutrients into feather production.
Now I lock down my Old Birds in Late June...Pull the last three
flights and then feed them all they can eat of my breeder mix
for about a month or a month and a week. I get eggs in the kit
box but man they fly through the moult. I also pull the tail
feathers on the ones that have really bad old feathers.......I
will start flying my old birds in about a week to week and a
half....the last three flight are almost all grown in on a
majority of the birds.
The young birds I fly through the moult because they handle it
pretty well and the first moult is not hard core on them as old
birds.
When they are in full moult they will look like plucked
chickens....basical ly elevedy billion feather on your loft
floor....and they look like you threw them in a bag and beat the
crap out of them with a stick...that is when they are in full
moult..they look BAD!!
I also go heavy on the sauflower....oily seeds are good for the
feathers.
