your traps "open" for anything else to get in your kitbox???
Don't you keep an eye on your birds when they come in? I shut
my traps "off" after my birds trap in. If one is late... it
gets "NO" food for the day. It soon learns to trap with all the
other birds. I tried not using traps and used the "open" door
systen and like Cliff mentioned, I always had "problem" birds
that wouldn't stay in the kitbox... Thus, causing problems in
       keeping the other birds in...

Just because the open door system doent work for you does not
make the trap a better system! I too use the open door system
and have not had any problems! Like rookie I too have a trap
for the late entering birds which is very rare!!

       > Your welcome Dennis. The open door system works just fine for
me! After the birds land I just whistle and shake the feed can
and they just fly right back in

Do you guys have trouble with some birds knowing how to get out
of the trap from the inside?

Cokoboi I buy the bob's with the little plastic T on the top
then cut 1/2 inch off each side to bring the bob's closer
together this will prevent any birds from getting out, also
close the trap when the birds are in. Dennis

put a 4x12 in. piece of thin sheet metal below the trap on the
end side of the door roll the top edge in to meet the trap
frame. this will stop most birds from getting out.....

I have always used 1lb coffee cans for traps. They hit the
landing board and dive through the coffee can. ;D

I always get a young bird or two that figure how to squeeze out.
If you do as R.F.C. says you shouldn't have this problem as the
bobs are usually designed for racing pigeons.

We tried the trap doors with the tbars or bobs...had bird afraid
of it and had others get back out....besides they are $50!!! lol
we are using Roof jack vents now they love it, come right in
cant get back out and they are cheap! Even most of my babies
have all taught themselves to trap through it with out my help.
