Hey Donnie, start a new thread featuring the article. Let's see
what you think the NBRC does not have the courage to publish.
       Thanks

I only saw maybe one or two legit ones judging the nationials ..
in reality they aren't that common unless you judge by a low
standard and not paying all that much attention to timing.

       hay guys,
do you think a bop setting on the power line should scored by a
judge? or better yet do you think a bop be scored when he/she
       bust up a kit????donnie james

       Scott
Speaking of low standards.....that is all the MORE REASON to
have a written standard to help bring both judges and flyers to
an understanding of what reflects the quality Rollers that
should be judged. Where you and I disagree is, you seem to
support a very narrow definition of a scoreable Roller where in
reality the range is a little wider than that. I do NOT
recommend or support scoring sub standard Rollers. I do however
support scoring good rollers, better Rollers and the best
Rollers. The difference in the categories depend on wing
positions and speed of revolutions. The main point of problems
exist where we want to draw the line between a scoreable and non
scoreable roller. With a little understanding and a little
compromise, this too can be worked out for the betterment of the
Roller fancy. As long as the idea is held that "I" must get what
"I" want, instead what is best for the organization, we will
have a more difficult time than is necessary to reach agreement.

A real standard will help all judges. It will get rid of most of
the "loose" judging" and the "tight" judging because there is a
something they have to go by now instead of doing whatever they
like. I don't know why so many people are against this. This is
akin to the NFL telling the refs they can call a game any way
they want, each ref can have his own set of rules and standards
on what is and isn't a sack, how many yards for a foul, and what
       is and isn't a catch.

Cliff I believe that is it in a nutshell. It's like scoring
only perfect 10's or not scoring at all. Does not make any sense
I think allowing birds that shouldn't be scored to be scored
under fleshed out judging standards is a concern for sure, but
something that should be used to guide the detailing of the
standards, not something to be feared leading to inaction. If
standards are going to be set too low the NBRC, World Cup Fly,
etc are already defeated. As can be seen by some of the loose
judging done in some cases we have met the enemy and it is us,
       so to speak. Paul Conway.
