when and what do you use when treating young birds for worms?
Looking from great and easy usage of an product.

Alternate the use of Ivomec drench and Moxydectin (available
from Siegal & sons) every 90 days. Anytihng less risks the loss
of breeding stock and weanlings. Birds that are being weaned
should get one tablet of Foy's Wormout/Coccidiosis down their
throat. With this program you will lose very few birds to worms.

You can also alternate with Worm-Out Gel. I Also use Wazine for
big round worms. It's harmless and it's a food grade wormer
       (just in case) :o :o :o :o

If I use Ivomec I just take out all the water in the loft and
put a tub of the mix in the loft so they can bathe and drink it.
Even if they only bathe in it, it will kill the worms. Leave it
in the loft for 2 full days. No more External parisite either.
       (BONUS).... 8)

Good point, Dave. I use Worm-out gel (Foys)as well. It is the
only one that kills tapeworms, though they are not a big concern
in pigeons. Isn't Wazine a trade name for peperazine?

Each 100 mL contains 17 grams Piperazine Base (present as
sulfate). It works good for roundworm which is the most common
       worm in pigeons.

I know I am repeating myself from other discussion threads, but
I had an avian pathologist necropsy a couple "healthy" hens that
died in the stock loft and it turned out to be roundworms....not
death through host emaciation, but through a large volumn of
eggs in the intestine, hatching and migrating through the
tissues and causing organ failure. He is the one that
recommended alternating Moxydectin and Ivomec every 90 days.....
He also recommended against the use of perperazine and Wazine,
saying that it is only about 60% effective against pigeon
       roundworms.
       FYI,
       Cliff
