       Kitting

In the past I have introduced my young birds into an established
kit a few at a time and it has worked fairly well. I can only
fly about 10 birds at a time due to city regulations. After
awhile I will separate the young birds into a second kit and
this also has worked ok. This year I had too many birds and
little time to do this so I just turned them all loose at the
same time. My older birds still kitted ok, a few young birds
joined in for awhile but then after about 15 minutes they were
all over the place except for a few of my older birds. These new
birds would also bring down some of my older birds early. I'm
now trying to fly the young birds by them self. I have a couple
of young birds with my old birds that are doing well. The young
kit (7birds) are all over the place. I have read that it can
take 6-8 times for them to kit. These birds are not flying
together well enough for them to figure out who to fly with.
They will pair up two or three at a time for a couple of turns
then break away. They only have flown by them self once so maybe
I'm impatient but was just wondering what you guys thought. I'm
sure maybe my program is not correct. Jon

Jon, Just be patient! They will come together but flying a few
old hens with them will help. They will start to join the
established kit sooner then if they have to form their own kit
from scratch. Just keep flying them as much as possible.

       Take care

Thom. I put in two year old hens and after a couple of flys the
young ones were kitting very good. Thanks for the advise. Jon
