For me, 3-5 days. Start with short walk, 1/2 block or less,
progressing up to 2 blocks over another 5 days.
It is very open area around my loft, so I can be relatively
aggressive about getting young birds on the wing without much
concern of them getting lost, there is no where else for them to
go.

dog doc....If you have them trained to the feed tray with the
feed can,and have them trap trained they should be on the roof
now. Let them fly to the roof from the landing board to the
traps for a few days then flag them up. You don't have to take
them anywhere. 8) Joe

Dog Doc, how many young Rubys do you have? If you only have a
couple of pairs I wouldnt risk losing them! If you have several
pairs keep 2 pair for safety incase the others are lost. Dont
put all of your eggs in One basket so to speak! We are all
anxious to get are birds in the air and see what they are
capable off, and one of the best ways to pick our breeders is
from the air. This is just my opinion as there are others ! I
too have Rubys and can tell you, you made a wise decision
getting Tonys birds! They may not be the best strain out there
but I can tell you from what I have seen in the performance from
my young birds bred this year the roll is there! They will and
can compare to the best! Good Luck with your birds my friend.

You never bother anyone with your questions. Sometimes a breeder
with many years of experience needs to be reminded of the
basics. There are also others that are too scared to ask
questions and your question might help that person. Keep asking.
There are some great guys on the site that will be of more help
than most books.
