What do yall use plastic or wood egg for??

They are generally used to keep foster birds setting momentarily
until good eggs are placed under them.

how long will the fosters sit on the wooden egg???
will they eventually stop sitting on the egg???

I believe it's between 18-20 days that it takes for a pigeon to
give up on a nest of eggs and stop setting, but I could be off.
But if you are using fosters, ideally you should have your
breeders and fosters timed close enough together that you do not
have to leave the fosters on the artificial eggs for more than a
few days. If you leave the fosters on the artificial eggs too
long and then place the good eggs under them, then they will
give up on the eggs hatching and abandon the eggs in the middle
of the incubation period.

Eggs should be no more than 3 day apart if more fosters will
abandon them can-- just leave eggs under fosters until you check
eggs that are to be moved to make sure they are fertile -- I
wait 4 days to candle eggs then make moves. GOD BLESS!!!

but...but... with my experience the bird actually know that it's
not their egg because the hen have not release a egg.....
you telling me that your bird will sit on any egg though they
got no egg to replace ??? ??? ??? ???

I foster almost all our breeder pairs and I don't try real
hard to get the fosters timed just right....so to be able to
keep the breeder pair's eggs from incubating I remove the first
egg the day it is laid and replace it with a dummy egg.....This
allows me to keep the breeder pair's eggs untill a foster pair
lays.....I have kept eggs in the fridge for 10 days before
placing them under a foster pair. Jay

The artificial eggs are used for replacing the real eggs layed
by the fosters.

sometimes fake eggs are used at the end of the season to keep
hens from repeatedly laying more eggs. Replace her real eggs
with fake ones and she will sit them for 21 days or so. Take her
eggs away without a replacement and she will lay again in about
10 days.

question...could the egg still fertilize when it been in the
fridge ??? ??? ??? ??? okay but sure....I should try it too
then... :D :D :D
This was something I've been questioning..... WILL THE EGG STILL
BE GOOD AND FERTILIZE GOOD IF IT HAVE NEVER BEEN SIT ON BY A HEN
??? ???
