Your right Cliff it has gone through changes for the better,
Which gives it more integrity. No I have not seen where I would
be without the regionial wins. It isn't that important to me ,
what matters to me is the finals which is also what has pushed
me over the top master flyer wise and where the competition is
for that year.
There you have (for the most part) the guys that have the teams
that year , doesn't matter who you are or what you have done in
the past , if you don't have the team you just simply don't have
the team. Teams are always in flux
I have flown the regionials with scrub teams or squekers because
one reason or another that is all I had. I still flew though
regardless of how it's going to look on the score sheet.

Our state fly took in all of those that qualified for the NBRC
and WC , yea a little competitive to say the least. It makes
you step up your game no doubt.

That's a great way to support the hobby, Scott. Fly no matter
what, just for the sake of flying even if it means flying young
birds that aren't up to par. That's very admirable.

Tou .. it is rare that I have gone into the finals with a team
that I had confidence in the I could take it , great teams are
hard to come by. At least for me. In fact none of it is easy for
me, good teams have to be built and molded into one, although
the starting point is they have to be good individules first.
Then you have to hold on to the little suckers, two birds can
make a world of difference one way or another.
We have to support no matter what , if all we had were those
that felt like they had the right team then there would be no
fly.

One more thing, Scott. You said that you don't need to talk up
your birds....Fact is I don't need to either.I feel the EXACT
SAME WAY about my birds, they stand on their own merit.
If you believe your birds can stand on their merit, is there
any reason not to believe others birds can do the same? Merit is
based on Judging and competition placement IMHO. Is the Master
fly award a boast? I don't think so. The MF points are based on
achievement during competition. Again not a boast.Cliff

When I talk of the flyers in my region who have won MF status,
won the WC , won the NCF ....... All the credit goes to them. I
had nothing to do with their achievements..... just like how you
appreciate, the California state fly's HIGH level of
competition, I enjoy a very similar experience on a regional
level, every time we fly a regional competition be it NCF or
WC.
