breeders that keep kicking out eggs

so ive got this new breeding pair, actually ive had them for a
few months....and using the term breeding pair doesnt really
work for them eating pair might suit them a whole lot better ha!
because these pigeons wont take the eggs to hatch....they keep
kicking them out....in the beginning the shells seemed thin, but
with a few calcium supplements and now regular oyster shell, the
egg shells are fine, but the birds keep soccer booting them out
of the nest....im looking for solutions....im thinking the hen
may be too young still being a early 2010 bird....the cock is
older and has successfully reared young prior to this
mating....is it maybe too windy? the windward side is blocked...
i dunno what the deal is....i just want some babies!...anybody
got any tips or help or working breeder pair for me? ha!

I would try fostering a round from this pair, maybe they will
       calm down givin more time.

ive only got the one pair...so no fostering, they are in a sweet
four shot individual breeder cage though...and i went through a
couple different types of nesting material, first pine, but not
the long needles the short ones...they really didnt like that,
so i went for dry grass, now ive got hay they seem to like that
the best but im just hoping these two will kick into gear
       soon...get me some more pigeons

Try sand on the bottom of the nest bowl and some ceder chips on
top.Make sure they have two nest bowls. Hope your luck turns. 8)

Joe is dead on. Try the sand but not very deep. What is most
likely the problem is to much nesting material and the eggs are
getting pushed up and over the edge of the bowl.

       BTW, WELCOME

Dontillerino, I want to add that when using sand, keep the depth
low in the bowl, no more them 1/4 to 3/8 of an inch. I use
sterilized play sand exclusively, it is easy to find . Just
before the eggs are due to hatch, empty the sand out of the nest
bowl and leave it out until the squabs are a few days old and
sitting up stright, then replace the sand and nest bowl with a
       clean setup.

I wait until I band the birds or when they are sitting up
straight with no chance of having their face pushed into the
sand before I give them a new nest bowl. I increase the sand
level to around 3/8 to ½ of an inch. Until the squeaks are old
enough they will have trouble clearing the rim of the nest bowl,
so be sure to change to a fresh bowl as needed ( when wet ).
Even with the sand it is possible to have a squab develop
spraddle leg, so keep a close eye on them ( any single ).
       Best of luck
       Take care
       Thom

Hi guys, I am very fortunate where I live unlimited supply of
pine needles which I find the birds prefer more than anything
else. Open loft plastic dog bowls :D
