Judging is difficult and the judges do the very best they can.
In the 20 bird fly, all he is trying to do is assign a AVERAGE
depth or duration so he can award the kit a multiplier.
In the 11 bird fly, the judge try's to assign a value to each
       individual bird, for its performance.
If he misses a few birds that perform in the manor you are
talking about, the AVERAGE will not be overly affected, in my
opinion. The bird may or may not be seen and be counted in the
breaks but the D multiplier could be slightly lower.
And that is what you are concerned about. I doubt the judge has
time or visual acuity[/font] to observe all the birds, in all
the breaks, all the time...... But he is NOT asked to do so.
His job is to ESTIMATE the number of birds in each break that
meet HIS standard and assign a Depth multiplier and a QUALITY
multiplier that reflect the AVERAGE overall D&Q for all birds
       scored.
Yes, he may miss a few birds as you describe but It probably
will not affect the score that much. And most judges are
consistant in what they see from loft to loft. That is the
       important thing.

If a bird spins for 2 seconds you will most certainly have
seperation.. the kit isn't hovering in one spot .. duration will
also give the impression of depth,, if the duration is there
       they are hard to miss.

       Jay,
And three out of four judges will not score that bird because
they are looking for separation from the kit. They don't have
much choice when there is a lot of action. They just won't see
       it...myself included.
