Me either Joe. but I did steal a toy car from another kid when I
was 4. Talk about a beating, lol.. I was just saying to me
hurting a kid is not worth it. How ever a leather belt is a
       different story.

Kids do do some dumb things although I must say, if the "kid" is
a teen, I have much less patience and sympathy.
Gotta say though, theft of pigeons isn't uncommon especially in
larger cities. I know lofts get hit quite often in the Twin
       Cities especially in the summer.
I remember Tim Decker getting a bunch of his birds get hit,
heard it was pretty bad. I also remember talking to Clay Hoyle
and he mentioned about how he was completely wiped out. That's
probably the worst case I've heard about considering the level
of flyer Clay is to get wipe out almost completely.
Having a dog outside is a good thing.
BTW Ty, don't feel bad. I remember being a poor 6 year old
stealing a couple pieces of "double bubble" gum (5 cents a
piece) and worrying for my life. I confessed to my parents and
got yelled at lol. Last time I ever stole candy. But I've never
       stolen any toy cars so...:)

Actually my dogs would keep them at bay, they are not biters.
When anyone hears the throaty growl and bark of two Rhodesian
Ridgebacks they tend to run like hell. They would never even
make it in the back yard. I'm more worried about out cat getting
       in the loft than thieves.

I don't think kids are the ones stealing most birds in So. Cal,
in fact if you look on Roller World they posted picks from a
feed store that got nailed, they caught them on video and
recognized the guys. He went and got his birds back. The thieves
were two hispanics that are freinds with some flyers and go to
pigeons shows. Now that they posted the pictures I don't think
they will be attending any more shows.

Usually the thieves aren't actually competitors but
friends/cling-ons of competitors that do it.
And most of them aren't young kids but late teens and young
       adults.

It was a small matchbox or hotwheels car like the old TG&Y
stores sold. I was at Blacks drug store up town playing with
there grand son why my mother was getting some medicine. I had
it in my jacket pocket and she felt it when putting me back in
the car, I got blistered right there on the street corner in
fron of every one and had to walk back in the store and give it
back to the other kid and say I was sorry.... Some lessons in
life you just don't forget. ;)
