I agree with Thom. My target time for length of flight with
youngsters is 45 min. I also want them to be at a proper height.
While they are young is the time to instill these habits. They
will be much easier to handle as older birds if you build proper
habits in them now. With young birds like you're flying, i'lll
feed them considerably more than birds that are rolling. As long
as they trap in directly when you command or whatever your
system is. If they linger about, then feeding too much. When
they're young like this, you can afford to give them a few
favors. JMO

The general rule of thumb is 1 Cup (8 oz) / 10 birds and
adjusts from there. In summer time you need to cut back little.
Birds will do just fine on 6 oz feed. In winter you will
probably end up feeding 2 Cups / 10 birds. Do not overfeed
birds, they will start gain weight slowly and you will end up
with Stiff team of rollers

Siddiqir you sure on your feed amount?
I measured out a tbl spoon per bird, times 10 birds it doesn't
come close to the 1 cup per 10 birds. It comes out less than a
1/2 cup.
Your ration just seams a little heavy, please verify.

Lew, 1tbs per bird is just a guideline. Young birds not yet in
the roll require more feed. Just try feeding the amount and type
of feed that works best for your birds! What works for some may
not work for others! Some families require more feed some less,
environment and flying conditions, and the condition of the
birds will also play a part in your feeding.

Lew, 1 cup really work out well if it is really cold. If it get
really hot 1/2 cup just work out fine any thing inbetween go
within 1 cup to 1/2 cup...

just a little update on my ruby's.
Well It has taken awhile, my young ruby's are now about 15
months old, I did have to to follow with regret I might add,
Tony's 80/20 rule from the Breed Better roller book, A few of
the lavender red bars have become screamers, fast, tight,
spinners, did get one roll down, darn it, he was coming along
great up until he became a little 2 fast, they have been
kitting good and flying sometimes over 2 hours if the weather
favors them or I get a little heavy with the feed can, The yo-yo
feeding of feed type, plus the amount has made a big difference.
