New Breeders Loft for the Ruby Reds

Hi to All
I have attached two photos of the new loft I just built for my
newly arrived Ruby Reds. Thanks Tony they arrived safely and
are beautiful!
Loft dimensions are 4' x8' with an approximate height of 6'. It
is two separate breeding lofts for 5 pairs each.

Ni.... good looken loft. I noticed all the vents at the top of
the walls. Do you have any at the floor level?? If not you
might wanna put acouple in for better ventilation...Just a
helpfull thought.. Using the corrigated roof like you have,
their would be enough space for the "air" to escape.

You are a very gifted carpenter.The only thing that I might add
is you will need to have some more light for breeding.There
maybe enough light already,but I couldn't tell by the 2
photo's.Best of luck my friend. ;)

Thanks for the welcoming comments. I will put some low vents on
the doors, and I am installing some solar shed lights on each
side for extra lighting for the breeders. The way that I am
working with this particular loft is that it has to be as easy
for me to access it without having to go right inside a loft
because of concern over health issues. I originally had a bunch
of crested rollers and some other breeds which I was keeping in
memory of my oldest brother who always loved all the breeds. I
then got some Pensoms and just when I was ready to start working
with them, I got really sick with a pneumonia which was also
related to the pigeons. The person who has been caretaking the
birds has made a mess of every thing - and I mean a MESS. Since
I have been on a healing process for a long time, taking
megadoses of vit C and working with a great Chinese Dr., I am a
lot better and my lungs are much healthier, so am going to start
again but with some major changes in loft design and I always
wear a mask now every time I go in the loft. I am really
grateful for everybody's comments, I take them all to heart.

Like I said before, I really like the design and those who have
lung and breathing issues should take a long look at your loft.
I mentioned something like this design to Paul the Firefighter
on another thread. Again great work.

NI.........the better the "venitlation" is, the better YOUR
health and the birds health will be. I think at least one time
or another, all of us have had to deal with the "bretheing"
issue when it comes to our birds. I know I have and now I wear
an Inovel 1500 series N95 respirator... Good luck and stay
HEALTHY...

This is one of the reasons My loft plan is open fronted. I have
asthma, had it since I was a kid. Moreover, birds are healthier
with more, rather than less air.
I have been told that a wood floor is best, so that is in the
plan as well. A shop vac is also helpful, along with the mask. I
have never had any issues with my health due to the birds, but I
do have to be careful. I know this is an old thread, but well,
my two cents.
