As we move forward through 2012 we are looking at Lifetime,
Junior, Family, and Senior levels of membership possibilities.
As well as we need to address current cost of annual membership
vs. cost of providing a bulletin per member annually. Here is a
great example of how easy it is to help each other out in this
hobby. NBRC members Frank Lavin, at over 80 yrs old and is a
Hall of Famer, and still attending roller events and donating
birds and other items. I have had a couple of correspondents
with him recently regarding lifetime memberships. A guy like
this has given so much to the hobby, and is still doing so, and
has been recognized for this, but more can be done to give back
to Frank. Frank isn't looking for a free ride, just
consideration as a Senior member. I was able to provide Frank 2
yrs of membership, paid by me through a donation to me by Jim
Fisher from Wisconsin. Jim had asked me for another hen as I he
had bid on and won some birds I donated to WC or NBRC
fundraiser, I don't remember which one. But he wanted another
hen and I told him I don't typically sell birds but send me a
box and shipping and I will send him one. He was pretty ademant
about paying me for the bird so I told him about Frank and asked
him if he could pay 1 yr membership for him. He was thrilled
and when I got his check he included 2 yrs worth of dues for
Frank. What goes around comes around. I sent him a few extra
birds the first time and now I am rewarded by being able to give
back to a guy like Frank Lavin. That feeling is worth way more
then any price of a pigeon. Just sharing this to show how
little it can take to create win-win situations for each other
in this hobby. Jim got his hen, plus I sent him an extra, Frank
got membership renewal for 2 yrs, and I got the pleasure and
satisfaction of being able to help each of these fine gentelman
       out.
I try to visit the numerous roller sites but it is difficult
to keep up with all the posts, opinions, and suggestions. As I
have posted in the bulletin, please send me your ideas and
suggestions as NBRC members to mailto:macsrollers@yahoo.com or
       my cell is (702) 348-8200. If I don't answer leave a message
and I will return your call when I can. I also won't ignore
non-members, just will prioritize NBRC members first.
Respectfully, Don Macauley macsrollers 2012/13 NBRC President
