I think giving out opinions and ideas so long as they are not
derogatory or demeaning should never make anyone else mad.
I guess it kind of depends on what the questions were but I,
myself, am not quite sure about that idea. It's not like the
guys are asking or filling out an application to put into the
hall. They are all nominated by others and the highest, or more
important criteria, is helping the hobby grow and not
necessarily who was the best flyer or the most knowledgeable
flyer.
I've heard of a similar idea but it was geared towards judges to
make sure they know what they're doing but even that was shot
down. I don't think having potential HOF'ers taking a test to
put them in is going to fly but that's just my opinion.

I am a rookie here reading all of this. My feeling is why not a
HOF member be listed in MBRC with or without membership dues. He
or she didn't ask to be nominated ? I belive their dues have
been paid by monitary ways or their obvious acheivements. I
haven't paid a dime to use this site, but i'm still a member. I
didn't die in viet nam or go there,but those who did, have their
names on the wall. I belive they paid the ultimate price. Maybe
i shouldn't be allowed to use this site to say such, but i'm
felling better because i did. We only go through this life once.

A problem with having an entry test for induction to Hall of
Fame, is that everyone who passes the test wold be eligible,
regardless of whether they deserved it based on other merits or
not. Membership into the NBRC HOF is not a goal we seek for and
pass of credentials like boy scout merit badges. It is a
recognition bestowed by our comarades that says "thanks for your
contribution and service". Believe it or not, there are some
people who think they should be members but are not and should
not be. In their minds they have created their own greatness, or
misread the complimentary achievements they have made. It is not
enough to know answers to a test, or to have had good rollers
for a certain many years, nor to have won in major competition.
As was pointed out, it is the sum total of ones contribution to
the hobby or flying rollers, and it takes a lifetime of effort
to accomplish.

hay wish,
i have to agree with on what you said but i like i said before i
was disappointed in a couple of hof'er for not knowing their
stuff that's why i stand my saying by a test and i feel any
hof'er should be in the hobbie at less 25 year and more and they
have to write articles as well flying in compition and take part
in the local and national level as well like i said i don't know
everything and i'm not trying to make the hof'er look
bad...........................well better go before i stick my

No problem at all Donnie, I think these forums are here so we
can have discussions like this and exchange opinions and
thoughts.
What I wonder is, do you happen to have some of the sample
questions?

hay 2y4life,
here's what i think for the test for the nbrc hof it should be
basic genetic questions nothing to hard like what will get by
mating blue check on another blue check and red check on red
check and blue check on a red check etc. and a few question on
the wing action and how many tail feather are there and how many
secadary and how many primary feather and how many genes does
the cock have and how many genes that a hen have if you want
more let me know and have score at less 85% score donnie james

Interesting Donnie. I guess I really don't care if these guys
who have the basic knowledge of genetics or not. Again, jmo, I
think this hobby is so unique from every other hobby in that,
without the support and tireless help from volunteers, this
hobby would not be where it is today nor will it survive or
thrive in the future.
Reminds me of an article in the latest NBRC bulletin where a
fancier wrote something along the lines of "The best birds from
two blacks are usually not blacks but the throwbacks, like a
blue check or red check". I have to admit, I chuckled to myself
thinking "that red youngster is probably better than the usual
blacks/blues because it came from a different cock".
Those of us who know at least the basic genetics know it's near
impossible to get a red from two blacks.
Anyhow, as always, nice to hear from you Donnie.

New Question why doesn't the NBRC offer a life time membership
for $200.00 to everyone would make it easer for all. never have
to keep up when membership expires again. how many members stay
in for 8 years or more? GOD Bless!!!
