There is a max of 3 inductees per year.
Since its inception, there were 14 years where 2 or more people
were inducted in 23 years.
But yes Steve, I do agree with you. The last of our worries is
HOF members. They clearly deserve to be honored and if the day
comes to where we have enough members to fill up the back page,
we can just add another page. They sure as hell deserve it, men
like Pensom, Lavin, Smith, Grover, Higgins, Plona, Baker, Dallas
and the rest.

hay 2y4life,
at the portsmouth roller club we adopted a system that when you
have 20 years in (and up there in years 65 and older) that you
became a life time member and you didn't have to pay your dues
and i have agree with scott if they don't pay theirs dues get
them out of there and the nbrc should change the rules so
younger guys can get in there how i understand it you have to be
60 years old to get into the hof .............i better close
before i get myself in trouble because i wrote an article about
the hof and sent to few people and it didn't go over to well and
i was called a "LAIR" from a old president of the nbrc over that

Donny, just to see if I have this correct. In the Portsmouth
Roller Club, after 20 years in, you don't have to pay your dues
and you become a lifetime member. Yet how can you agree that one
can be a Hall of Fame member yet still have to pay your dues to
be a member? You just stated yourself that in your club, after
putting in enough years, you get a free lifetime membership so
why the difference? These HOF members have put in more than 20
years into helping and establishing the roller fancy and the
NBRC.
BTW, there is no age limit/requirement in the NBRC Hall of Fame.
I'm not sure where you are getting the information from. The
youngest guy inducted to the NBRC HOF was 44 years old and the
oldest guy was 85. So there is no age limit or age requirement.
Anyone from anywhere in the world can be inducted into the HOF.
All you have to do is submit a person for consideration and it
is up to the current HOF members to vote on it.
If you don't mind, I'd love to read your article personally. If
that is alright, let me know and I'll shoot you my email via

want to share it, I understand as well.

hay 2y4life,
yeah you got that right after 20 years you don't have pay your
dues we done that to help to the older members out as well
getting them to come back to the club and if they want to pay
their dues it ok we try to get the old timer to come back to
give the younger guys advice on raising birds and flying birds
and etc. i guess i was misinformed on the requirements sure i'll
send you a copy of my article about the hof give me a private

Honestly Steve I think that they are just trying to fill slots
in some instances .. many have worked hard for the club with no
consideration... It is somewhat of a popularity contest to some
degree... but no doubt more than a few deserve to reconition

What does the membership dues have to do with the Hall of Fame?
These Master Flyers are not in the HOF for paying their dues on
time! I would like to think they're in for personal achievement.
Last time I checked George Herman Ruth "The Babe" hasn't paid
any dues lately. JMTOT.

No offense but the NBRC HOF is a bit more than just about MF
points. It's based on who has contributed the most to the roller
hobby and competition is just one aspect of the roller hobby. If
you actually become a member, you'll read the bulletin that is
sent out at the end of the year that will explain how the HOF
works. This isn't baseball where everything is based on
accomplishments. As stated before, Joe Marlett first published
the this information back in '98 and he said it should be "which
Roller fancy in the hobby has done the most".
Competition isn't the be all and end of all of the roller hobby.
Here is the criteria of who should be nominated:
1) Secretary-Treasurer and Bulletin Publishers of non-profit
national and international Roller clubs
2) Organizers of regional and local roller clubs
3) Roller Event Managers
4) World Cup Continental Coordinators, Regional Directors, LADs,
and Judges
5) Writers of Roller articles that influence or help other
fanciers
6) Roller band secretaries
7) Winner of major Roller contests
8. Elected Officials who make a difference.
Now onto Scott's point. You may be onto something and at the
end, if there is a human element than it might just be somewhat
of a popularity contest and that is the same for any HOF across
the board.
But looking at the list of current HOF members, I don't know if
there is one guy who we can honestly say doesn't deserve it for
what they've done for the roller hobby.
Again SoundRoller, my stance and belief is that if you are
inducted into the HOF, you should have lifetime membership.

I happen to agree with part of your statement, "many work hard
for the club with no consideration", Where I see the biggest
achievement and where many of the best flyers/members come up
short is in the area of " NURTURING THE SPORT", or if I may put
it another way " AMBASSADORS FOR THE SPORT". I see many good
flyers/members in the NBRC but very few Ambassadors for the
club. The TRUE AMBASSADORS are gentlemen first, never speak an
unkind word towards fellow club members, go out of their way to
serve the membership in whatever job needs to be done.....
CONSISTANTLY. Men who are always there, not just when its
convenient. Hell Yes, the really good guys are POPULAR... and
few & far between. Those who are good breeders and flyers are
recognized by the MASTER FLYER award and little else matters.
That's the way I see it.

P.S. Example: A good NBRC member/flyer, judges a man with poor
birds, the judges hands him his score sheet and leaves. A
potential HOF recipient, judges the same flyer, gives him his
score sheet and either offers him birds or puts him in touch
with someone with good birds.

breeders have demonstrated excellence in flying, breeding, and
nurturing the sport. As such, the membership recognizes their
accomplishments

So we found a common ground, I agree dues or no dues they're
still Hall of Famers .

From what I have read in the HOF info is that it does not
require you to be a member of the NBRC to be in the hall of
fame. They should make them honorary members for life.
