NBRC HOF and Membership

As I look through the NBRC Hall of Fame, I noticed that there
are quite a few Hall of Fame winners that are no longer
"members" of the NBRC. Many of these legends are in their 70's,
80's and even 90's and are not able to keep up with the online
world and the have other places they need to spend their money
on. How can the NBRC admit these men into the HOF yet deny them
their membership because they are not paying their dues? Haven't
they already paid their dues? They have been recognized by their
peers as the few select men who have given back more to this
fancy than most.
I just think it's a shame that some of the HOF winners are not
members. I think the NBRC and its members need to take a good
look at themselves and figure out what they need to do to truly
acknowledge all that these legends have done for this fantastic
hobby. Again, it does not make sense how one can be a Hall of
Fame member of an institution/organization yet not belong as a
member to that same institution/organization.
To legitimize the HOF and the NBRC, any member who has been
elected into the NBRC should get a lifetime membership to the
NBRC. I would just like to hear if anyone agrees or disagrees
with this notion.

I'm not a member of the NBRC, but it makes sense to me. I feel
any Hall of Fame should have have it's perks.

Wow why are you not a member of the NBRC it is only $26 dollars
a year and you get 6 bulletins packed full of intresting
articles and you can buy bands for youe squabs.You don't have to
fly there comps until your ready believe me it is a joy to
receive the bulliten & have axcess to the membership E-mails &
phone # OH that is why I cant find YOU, LOL Dennis

I don't know all the HOF members but at a quick glance I would
say around 10 have passed, if not more. Some were inducted after
they passed.
But I will pass on your suggestion to Bob Simpson.

Yes!!!! A life time membership should come when anyone is put in
to the HALL of FAME I can't think of any reason they should not
be given a forever membership no Question ask.

That's what I am thinking. Being inducted to the Hall of Fame in
the NBRC yet all these Hall of Fame inductees still can't be
members unless they pay their yearly dues. Again Mr. Williams, I
agree with you. There really isn't a reason they shouldn't be
given a lifetime membership if the Hall of Fame is to truly
honor those who contributed most to the roller hobby.
BTW Cliff, I am not talking about members that are no longer
here. Once a guy is deceased, there is no need to have him
listed as a member but guys like maybe a Carl Hardesty who, if
I'm not mistaken, is still alive yet he is not a member because
he is not "paying his dues".

If they are still alive and yet not members their names should
be removed .. before long they will be taking up the entire back
of the bulliten

Scott, are you saying the HOF members should, in your opinion,
not get a lifetime membership? i want to be sure i fully
understand your reasoning, because on the surface it seems a bit
strong. i think the nbrc can add a page, if necessary to list
the growing list of HOF members. btw, doesn't the HOF add a
member per year? before we have to worry about how much room
will be taken up by all these guys, we'll be dead ourselves.
