Since I've been building my cage I have noticed BOP flying
around (not a good sign) I live in Compton CA by the way... The
first week I started building I saw THREE circling right above
me (not a good sign) I was at the burger stand a few blocks from
my house today and got a chance to see one in action... It's a
church right across the street and while I was waiting for my
food a hawk came around from the opposite side of the building
and ambushed them sitting on the roof! The bird didn't even get
a chance to get about 5 feet off the roof!!! It was exciting to
see and I was thinking to myself good! eat all the street birds
       you want!

Dell, Thats not good either. Commies are hard for resident hawks
to catch, they become "street wise" and for a hawk like that
your rollers are going to be like him ordering room service.

@ TY this bird was a master he just didn't swoop down and catch
one he was very cunning... I'm not by far making light of
someone lost to BOP I'm just saying it was a relief to see them
eat something other than someone's prized possession.

With all the ferals around my neighborhood I would think they
would leave my birds alone. But it's like a buffett at my house.

Dell , I understand what you were saying and for that day that
was one less roller that was taken but if the hawk is that
cunning your rollers want know what hit them was the point I was
       making.

fly culls first, maybe the bop will tote them off instead of
your good birds.Another option before you are able to move would
be buy some doves or homers to release for the bop to munch on.
Keep in mind the lighter, or better the bird the more the hawk
will eyeball it. So try to get white homers, and white doves.

I've got to disagree with this thnking. feeding hawks only makes
them stay longer in your area. afterall, why would they leave an
area with a good supply of food?

Steve, It was just a suggestion to give the BOP another option
for food other than the rollers. I personally cant just starve a
hawk out, since I must fly my young, instead of going on lock
down I prefer to feed them something else. I had much rather
feed them a dove or two rather than my rollers.
If their are resident hawks you cant starve them away because
their is oviousley another food source. However, if it is a BOP
who is just passing by, you could possibly go on lock down and
       drive them away.

       Hey Guys--the problem with BOP's isn't going away---once the
Feds gave all the BOP's all the rights--and the pigeon people
zero, you are going to get the short end of the stick from now
on---I have only one solution to the problem, either raise more
and fly them despite the BOP's or go to show birds--You are
never going to get the Feds to change their minds--NEVER
