what your thoughts on grit being left in the kit box full time,
       a negitive or a positive
what type of grit are you using, mineral or granite?

I give my birds the Kaytee red health grit in the past left a
       container in 24/7
Then discovered after time if it gets into crevices of the kit
loft it will eat away at wire and wood.
Breeders have butter bowls with holes cut in them just big
enough for the head. This keeps them from scattering it as they
       do get grit 24/7

This is just my opinion but grit can get contaminated just like
feed. You give your birds fresh feed and water every day. Why
not just add a little bit of fresh grit every day also. Less
chance of it getting contaminated and your birds getting sick. I
mix Red, granite and some oyster shells.

Now my kit birds get one feed a day and a good drink I do keep
the grit in there but bowls they can not crap in. Breeders have
all they want 24/7 in self made water /food and grit bowls they
also can not crap in ;)
Side note I once read a sprinkle of water on dry grit makes it
fresh? Not sure if that is so but dampen every so often does
seem to keep it in the container.

I also leave red great in my kit box 24[font=segoe ui]/7 and I
don't have a problem. And I fly a kit of 14 birds every day :)
