TO ALL ROLLER ENTHUSIASTS: THE AMERICAN PIGEON MUSEUM NEEDS
YOUR HELP. WE HAVE A PIGEON BASKET THAT WAS USED IN WORLD WAR II
TO PARACHUTE HOMING PIGEONS BEHIND ENEMY LINES. THE BASKET
CARRIED 4 PIGEONS. IT WAS ROUND, AND HAD A PARACHUTE ATTACHED TO
IT. THESE BASKETS WERE DROPPED TO TROOPS, MANY TIMES BEHIND
ENEMY LINES. AS MANY OF YOU PROBABLY KNOW THERE WERE MANY HOMING
PIGEONS USED IN BOTH WWI AND WWII TO CARRY MESSAGES WHEN OTHER
FORMS OF COMMUNICATIONS FAILED. THESE PIGEONS SAVED HUNDREDS IF
NOT THOUSANDS OF LIVES. THE LIBRARY HAS ONE OF ONLY 2 OR 3 OF
THESE BASKETS KNOWN TO EXIST. IT WILL BECOME A PART OF THE
PERMANENT COLLECTION AT THE MUSEUM. RIGHT NOW WE HAVE AN
OPPORTUNITY TO GAIN SOME RECOGNITION AND RECEIVE SOME FUNDING
FOR THE LIBRARY. THE BASKET HAS BEEN CHOSEN AS ONE OF THE TOP 25
ENDANGERED ARTIFACTS IN OKLAHOMA. IT IS NOW BEING VOTED ON BY
THE PUBLIC. IF WE ARE CHOSEN AS ONE OF THE TOP 10 ENDANGERED
ARTIFACTS IT WOULD BE GREAT PRESS FOR THE MUSEUM. WE NEED YOUR
HELP TO CHOSE IT AS ONE OF THE TOP 10 ARTIFACTS. ALL I AM ASKING
YOU TO DO IS TO VOTE ON LINE FOR THE BASKET. PLEASE SEE THE
NOTE BELOW FROM LORRIE MONTEIRO, THE MUSEUM CURATOR. THE WEBSITE
FOR VOTING IS LISTED BELOW HER NOTE. JUST CLICK ON THE WEBSITE,
AND VOTE. YOU CAN VOTE AS OFTEN AS YOU WOULD LIKE. VOTING CLOSES
JUNE 1ST, SO VOTE SOON. THANK YOU, GUIL RAND As many of
you know, our WWII pigeon basket was chosen as one of the top 25
endangered artifacts of Oklahoma. From May 1 to June 1 the
public is asked to vote for their favorite. I would love it if
ours would be chosen in the top 10. So here is the link, please
vote and pass on the link to others. This is great press and we
could get some conservation work done on the basket for free if
we win.

Hi Cliff, that young lady that runs the pigeon museum should
find information/pictures of an Oklahoma pigeon corpes regiment
and send the information to those folks picking the remaining 9
artifacts for their importance to Oklahoma history. I voted and
voted and .............
