Has anyone read this book by Graham Dexter? Would you recommend
it as having worthwhile information?

Welcome to the site! :D
I think all the books out there on rollers are worth the read.
However if you are new to rollers it can be difficult to know
what it is you should know and where to start. Books can have a
theme or a certain point of view and are not interactive. While
they have value they only tell part of the story so to speak.
I have had some great conversations over the years while being
face to face or over the phone because you get a chance to have
a back and forth dialogue that can bounce from topic to topic
and touch on esoteric things like feather tinsel strength and
why it is important to the roll.
This is where roller discussion sites can be a huge help or even
joining a local club and getting to know some of the old hands.
If you become a customer of mine you get the benefit of my help,
views and opinions either by phone or email. ::)
In any event nothing you read replaces flying your birds and
getting underneath them and observing what you see and working
on techniques to improve performance and frequency. 8)
Best of luck!

Tony's right about the books. I buy loads of books on pigeons,
under the pretence they're for my 7yr old stepson. He's got
Fantails, Nuns and some Adana Dewlaps are being bteed from by a
roller friend. This forum and others over here in England, are
really usefull. It doesn't matter how stupid things might be.
There is always a member who will take the time to help you out.
And you yourself will have knowledge to help someone else out.
I'm sure I'm not the only Ex racing man on here. Ask away and
like Tony said you can call guys or visit and compere your kit
to theirs. Maybe if allowed(unsure if allowed in the Stated)
.Visit a few flyers on Competition day and check out how your
birds look. But check and maybe call in afvance and ask if you
can watch. Good luck and Welcome.

Thanks for the insight. One thing that I am finding is that the
roller fraternity in general is more in tune to helping and
mentoring than the race fraternity on an at large basis.
It seems that you might call almost anyone in the hobby and they
would be willing to share and assist.

That book, to me, is the standard barrier for raising performing
roller pigeons. Unlike many other books, it's not just from the
author's perspective but also from some of the greatest roller
flyers of all time. It shows and goes against the my way or the
highway mentality of a few other books.
In short, if I could only keep and read one book, that would be
the book of my choice. If you can, get as many books as possible
and read them all. There's great information and insight in
every book I've read
