Safflower

I recently bought some feed that has safflower in it and was
wondering if they will effect my kitbird in a good way or bad.

I guess it depends on what your looking for? Over here it's in
nearly every pigeon mix, in varying amounts. Look on the verese
larga website, they give a good breakdown of the seeds used in
their mixes. I've noticed that the seed used in pigeon mixes has
changed over the last 40 years. Safflower dari(milo) rape seed
have all become common in todays mixes. I remember buying a mix
called tumbler when I was a teenager it had:- Maple peas,paddy
rice, wheat,tares,hemp,mung beans,groats, pearl barley and
buckwheat. Today you can't buy it or anything near it!

Yes it will have an effect.
Whether good or bad you will only learn by experience. However,
you will not learn the effect if you continue to feed it as a
mixed ration. Birds will choose certain grains from the mix
selectively and therefore not all will eat the same proportion
of grains from the mix evenly. If you want to know what effect
safflower has, stop feeding a mix and feed grains seperately,
this goes for any grain type you're putting into your kitbirds.
