Settling cage

Hello guys, i have some birmingham rollers. I am going to attach
a settling cage to their housing today an will let them spend
time in that for a few hours each day. How many days or weeks do
rollers normally need to get settled to thier surroundings? I am
also going to trap train them the same time.

This is what works for me:
First, keep the birds very hungry and whistle to them and shake
the food can each time you feed them so that they will scramble
for feed every time you do this.
Ten days to two weeks should be enough time to imprint them on
their new home from the settling cage.
Tie the last few primary feathers together on ONE wing of each
bird and remove the settling cage and open the door and let them
out at their own leisure.
The tied wings should keep them from flying very far and if they
are hungry enough they will trap in easily. Do this for a few
days and then let them out without tying their wings.

Ok thank you for the reply mate. I have also read that you can
soap the wings, will this or tieing the primary feathers cause
any damage to them? How many feathers shall i tie once they are
settled?

Actually you can use some electrician's tape or a piece of
ribbon for the wings.
Tying the last 3 or 4 flights on one wing should do the trick
and won't hurt the feathers. After a couple of days like this,
gradually let out a few without the wing ties each day until
they all are flying and trapping. You don't need to do this on
young birds, just older ones.
The most important thing is to make sure that they are really
hungry and trained to trap when you whistle or shake the feed
can.
