i got my rollers about a year ago and have been monitoring this
site about as long. Finally decided to register and contribute
to the discussion. i bought several birds off a iffy fellow and
got a few decent birds, but got into contact with a local guy
who seems to be a pigeon expert! Some of you may have heard of
Sonny Hester, he has taken me under his wing and helped my loft
tremendously! i have several pairs of some of his really good
birds, and have raised a few squibs from these pairs this year.
i fly the birds i bought and some really roll well to me (again
im new and havent seen that many kits in the air) but have seen
enough to know what to look for and what excites me. I am
content with backyard flying and have no ambition to compete but
would love to see as many different peoples lofts and a kits in
the air as possible. i was in denial at first but i have
accepted my addiction to these wonderful birds and now cherish
the abundance of time they consume. I am a 33 year old happily
married man with two beautiful little girls age 8 and 5. i live
about 30 miles north of nashville tennessee, and have a flat
acre bare of trees to fly in (the surrounding land is mostly cow
pasture) and birds seem to do well with no other perching spot
other than top of loft/kitbox. i have had only one hawk attack
since the spring and it was about a month ago. after a two week
lockdown no skysharks to report. i guess thats the 411, just
wanted to let everyone know who i am and ill be glad to be a
part of this discussion board. PS i welcome any comments or
criticisim but if it is pretaining to my mentor, id apprecite it
if it was not made public. i am aware of the situation which
caused him to no longer compete in the nbrc, everyone has their
own opinion, and is entitled to such, but he has been thru
enough and needs no further online bashing. I just wanted to put
that out there, if you want to rub me wrong that will be a good
start. with that said please ask anything, and be prepared to be
asked anything! Thanks for reading, and allowing me to read.
