Kit flying

Hi all, well I think I might have made a big mistake this
morning. We just got are birds about 2-3 weeks ago and this
morning was the frist flight for them here at there new
location. They where hungry 2 days, we let them out this morning
and everything was find all yearlings and a few 2 year olds and
4 young birds, the 4 young birds didn,t come out of the kit box
so I left them and I didn't force the others out also just let
them come out on there own. Well they sat aroung for a little
bit then they all took off and started to fly good. Then about
10 mins into the flight birds where going every which way and I
saw a cooper chasing one but didn't get it. I its late afternoon
and not one roller has returned home. I think I just lost 15
rollers. Any help. Thanks Bill

Only time will tell if you did enough settling time on top of
the kit bx & trap training u could get lucky may take a few
days. Any other birds that you could throw a couple up to-morrow
to attract the stragglers from where there hiding. Awful hard on
a young green kit but also happens to those flown all summer.
Good Luck. Keep us posted. If any do come back you'll know there
keepers.

Bill some might come tomorrow. Some of my friends usally keep
older birds in for a month before letting them out so they can
home properly. Younger birds not less then three weeks.
Let us know if you get some of your birds back.

kosales.... live and learn. With such an age difference in
your birds I would have let out the older birds by themselves
first, after they trapped I would let out the younger ones.
Ross... are those red mottles your Fireballs??

I don't know what breed we have. We just have had them now for
about a month. We only got 2 back out of 16. I will try again
yesterday another cooper came and got a young bird. I am
stopping for now til March or April next year and try again.
Very nice looking birds and thanks for the help. Bill

Yep kosales mine are on lockdown too. Just to many migrating
hawks going thru.
