what region am I in?

Hi everyone! I am brand new to rollers, just got mine 2 days ago
:)
I live about an hour south of Lexington in Kentucky and I would
love to connect with other pigeon people (what do we call
ourselves?) LOL
First, what region am I in and how can I meet up with other
pigeon keepers?
I would like to know how to band my pigeons so that I can get
them back if I ever lose them, they do have bands on them but
they came with them. I have been spending hours watching videos
and reading about flying them, feeding them etc. My concerns are
raptors and my cats. I am already coming up with ideas on how to
deal with the cats, but as for the raptors I will have to do
some more research. I live out in the country so that may be a
problem! Nice to meet everyone. I look forward to chatting
online.

Hello Shelley and welcome to the site!
For region information go to NBRConline.com. You are a "pigeon
fancier" or "pigeon hobbyist" or "crazy" depending who you ask!
I will look for a banding video I ran across and post it later.
As for raptors in the country, I too live in the country and
after moving here from Southern California have had fairly good
luck with the BOP. I am careful with my stock and practice smart
flying to protect it.
I have written several articles on good practices for protecting
roller pigeons from attack. While there is no sure-fire way of
doing so, these techniques can help minimize your exposure and
keep you out of trouble. I will post some of these articles in
my article section on my site www.Roller-Pigeon.Com
HTML http://www.Roller-Pigeon.Com
in the future. Best of luck! :D

You might be in region 3A it is IL, IN and part of KY. There is
a roller pigeon club in KY. I think it is the kentuckyania
roller club. Not sure on the spelling of it tho.

Tony,
We need those articles in the article section like yesterday not
the future. I was flying both kits yesterday and had a hawk
drive them up so they were just pin heads, seperated a few from
the kit then dove. He was relentless. I am still missing 3 and
have one back with a broken leg. They are back early this year.
I usually don't have to worry about them till mid
October-November.
Terry
By the way thanks for this site and all your useful information.
