Cerys glanced quickly at David, then away again. "I-I'm sorry.
You don't have to tell me," she said softly. "I shouldn't have
asked." She looked down at Sora, and began stroking his neck
softly. Her thoughts turned to Alikae. She must still be out
       there somewhere...
       ===
At that precise moment, Alikae dragged herself, sodden and
exhausted, onto the shores of another island. Cerys is here...
She could feel it, deep within her. Cerys was near... it was as
if an invisible force drew the two together.
Alikae started running, but didn't get far. Soon, she tripped
over a clear cord strung at paw-height between two trees. She
stumbled, and all her paws were soon hopelessly entangled in the
       trap. She cursed mentally.
       "What do you think?"
"Looks like she'll fetch a good price."
"Looks strong enough to work. Even better."
Alikae hissed and bared her fangs as two identical men
approached, each bearing identical green marks on their right
wrists. They held chains, ropes, small traps, anything you could
think of that marked hunters. Alikae tried to move back, but
only succeeded in entangling herself further. Some of the cords
cut so deep into her skin that they drew blood.
"There, there, kitty," one of the hunters said mockingly. "This
       won't hurt a bit."
And he proceeded to hit her over the head with a club. Hard.

David felt Cerys look at her and then look away. "I-I'm sorry.
You don't have to tell me," she said softly. "I shouldn't have
asked." David sighed heavily. Why did Cerys have to be some much
       like her?!
"We really should get going," David said, sounding a bit
       nervous.

"Can you even stand?" Cerys asked skeptically, looking down at
him. "We shouldn't stay here too long, but we'll have no choice
if you can't make it anywhere else."

"I told you, I'm fine," David hissed through his teeth as he
stood up, steadying himself against a tree. He didn't know if
Cerys knew about the burns or not, but he hoped not. The last
thing they needed is her worrying about him, but the scent of
the blood would draw Jabberwocky, and that was worse. "Come on,"
David said, offering Cerys his hand to help her up.

"You helping me?" Cerys asked when David extended a hand.
"You're the one that can't even stand up properly." She pushed
Sora's head off her lap, then stood up without accepting his
help. However, her eyes held no bitterness. She didn't want him
to help her because she was concerned about him. She didn't want
       him to hurt himself...
Sighing, she looked around. "Any clue where we should go?"
Sora, however, glanced sharply back in the direction they had
come, towards the tea shoppe. He had felt... something...

"Ooo-k..." David said, standing upright and taking a deep
breath, "We should probably head back to my..." He stopped
abruptly, his eyes widening. "Cerys," He began nervously, "It's
going to be ok..." David only had time to see the confusion on
Cerys's face before they were suddenly surrounded by men in
black army outfits aiming guns at them.
"Hands above your heads!" One of the men shouted, "Down on your
       knees!"
David cussed loudly and obeyed. Cerys did the same. Within five
minutes, the two of them were handcuffed and being led away.
Sora had also been captured. One of the man had mentioned
Machine Towers; David's eyes widened. At the very mention, he
began sweating hard and struggling more. One of the men cursed
and hit him with the butt of his gun, knocking him out.
((i wanted to get things going DX tired....))

"Cerys, it's going to be okay..." David said nervously.
Confused, Cerys looked around. In a split second, they were
       surrounded by black-suited men.
"Hands above your heads! Down on your knees!"
David cussed loudly, but did as they said. Terrified, Cerys
copied him. What's going on? Are they Dodo's men?
Sora squawked loudly, but didn't dare struggle. Cerys was in
danger. Cerys looked up at him, then back at David. Would they
       be all right?
One of the men in the black uniforms said something about
'Machine Towers'. When David heard the name, his eyes widened,
and he started to struggle again. One of the men hit him on the
head with a gun, knocking him out.
"David!" Cerys screamed, trying to run towards him. She
succeeded in breaking out of one man's grip and running a few
yards before two more of the men grabbed her. One hit her on the
head as they had done to David, and she passed out, hanging on
       to one thought. David...!

David woke up in a situation similar to the one he'd been in not
too long ago--strapped to a chair in a dimly lit room. He
struggled against the iron restraints around his wrists, but
cried out softly when they cut into his still-raw-and-bleeding
wrists. He tried to get used to the lighting, and when he did,
he saw something that made his heart skip a beat--Cerys. She was
tied to a chair a few feet in front of him, facing him. David
started getting angry at this point. A man clad in black walked
into the room and smiled wickedly.
"And what do we have here?" He asked, taking out a cattle prod.
What was with people today and electrocuting people?! "David
Hatter," David snapped his eyes up at the man at the mention of
his name, "We'd heard rumors that you'd been deceiving us.
Thanks to that little stunt you pulled out in the woods with the
Jabberwock, we were able to find you easily..."
David looked away, getting angrier by the second. "Let Cerys
go," He snapped, "She's nothing to do with this."
"Then tell me something," The man said in David's ear, "Where is
       the Great Library?"
"Go to hell," David muttered. The man jabbed his side--the other
side, not the one with the burn already--with his cattle prod
and David screamed out of surprise and pain. He quickly bit his
lip so hard it bled; he could feel his face burning as the black
marks reappeared once more. This was not going to turn out
       good...

Cerys awoke slowly, but on purpose. She was unsure of her
predicament, and she wanted to know exactly what was going on.
She was tied to a chair. Iron bonds. That was bad. Low lighting.
That was also bad. Sora and Alikae were nearby. Maybe bad...?
Someone was talking. Very, very bad.
       "...the Great Library?"
       "Go to hell."
Cerys's eyes flew open as she recognized the second voice as
David's. She was just in time to see the man jab David with some
sort of instrument. David cried out in pain, and Cerys cried out
too. "Stop! Don't--!" she yelled, terrified. She strained
against her bonds, but only succeeded in cutting herself on an
edge of the metal. She bit her lip, looking up at the man that
was hurting David. She opened her mouth as if to say something,
but quickly closed it again. What could she say that wouldn't
       screw things up again?

David heard Cerys, but barely. "Don't worry," He said mainly to
Cerys, but part of it was to himself. The man in front of him
asked him where the Library was again and David spat in his
face. The man stuck him with the cattle prod again, in his navel
this time, and David screamed louder; that one hit a sensitive
spot. The dark marks around David's eyes started turning jet
black and he started rocking back and forth, muttering. "Why is
       a raven like a writing desk?" He asked, like he'd done before;
the man jabbed him in the side of the neck and David cried out
again. "The clockwork's not ticking properly!" He exclaimed,
louder, "Maybe crumbs in the butter!!"
"That's it," The man said, walking over to Cerys; he pointed the
lightning rod at her before looking back at David. "If you won't
       talk, maybe she will."
David's eyes flew wide. "NO!!" He screamed, the dark lines
stretching down his jaw and down under his shirt. "LEAVE HER
ALONE!!" The man suddenly raised the cattle prod and thrust it
into Cerys's stomach, making her scream out of pain. David
screamed too, but for the man to stop. The main raised the
cattle prod again and started thrusting it at Cerys's stomach
once more, when suddenly, every hair on the back of his neck
stood on end. The tip of the cattle prod hit Cerys's stomach,
       but nothing happened.
"What the hell?" The man said, glancing over at David; his eyes
widened--David's whole body was surrounded by yellow lightning,
pulsating throughout his entire body. His hair was standing on
end and a look of pain and rage was plastered onto his face.
"LEAVE HER [b]ALONE!!" He screamed. Suddenly, the metal
restraints broke and David jumped up, slamming his right,
sparking fist into the man's jaw. The man screamed in pain and
flew into the wall, knocking him unconscious. The whole room
became electrified; Cerys's restraints opened, freeing her, and
the lights above them began flickering brigther and brighter,
and then dimming, but always went bright again. David started
growling as the pain throughout his entire body began to
increase; the black lines on his face and chest now stretched
down to his arms, making his entire body feel like he was on
       fire.
Suddenly, and without warning, David threw his head back and
laughed--full out laughing, and loudly, at that. The doors to
the room flew open and a few more guards came in. David snarled
and pointed towards them with one arm; a long streak of
lightning shot at them and sent them all flying into the walls.
David picked his hat up from off of the floor, set it down on
his head, and laughed again, maniacally.
The Mad Hatter had come out to play.
((can't take credit for that last line ._. it's from a fanfic
       XD))
