"David...? Sora!" Cerys exclaimed as she saw the two enter.
"What? Sora...?" she asked, looking at him. She flinched when
David started attacking Dodo. "Sora, what's going on?" she
asked. Sora simply stepped in front of her protectively. "Sora,
move!" she screamed. She ran out from behind him and towards the
two men fighting. "Stop! What's going on?"

"Sora, get her out of here!" David shouted. Dodo noticed Sora
run out of the room with Cerys and he screamed in anger. "You
bloody bastard!" He shouted at David, kicking him again, "We
could win this war with her! Don't you realize that?!"
"By blowin' people up?!" David screamed back, hoping Cerys would
hear Dodo's plan and believe him, "All you're going to do is
cause more casualties! More reason for a war! Strapping a bomb
to a young girl and sending her into the Towers isn't going to
do a bloody shred of good!"
"That's what you think!" Dodo exclaimed, letting David get to
his feet. David growled and punched Dodo in the stomach, sending
him to his knees. "If we have an Outsider on our side, they
won't suspect a thing!"
"I won't let you kill her!" David shouted as he started running
out the door. He bolted down the hall, catching up with Sora and
Cerys. "Run!" He shouted, "Keep running! And don't look back!!"

"Sora, what--?" she started to ask, but he grabbed her collar in
his beak and started dragging her out of the room. "Sora! Quit
it!" she shouted. "What's going on?!"
"You bloody bastard! We could win this war with her! Don't you
realize that?!"

Cerys stopped running, looking back. A bomb...? Dodo was
planning to kill me! she realized. She jumped as David ran out
of the room. "Keep running! And don't look back!"
Cerys ran with Sora and David now, looking up at David. She
didn't know what to do now. She was afraid, but not of him. She
was angry, but mostly at herself. I was too gullible... too
ready to believe... As they ran, she looked up at David. "I'm
sorry..." she said simply.

David didn't even heard Cerys as they ran. His eyes and the
marks around them started burning a little; he closed his eyes
and shook his head, trying to ignore the pain in his face, arms,
and stomach. When he opened his eyes, he saw a door a few feet
in front of them and he punched it open. Just keep running! He
thought angrily.

David, Sora, and Cerys stopped running after they were a good
distance away from the Resistance HQ. David spotted a small cave
in the side of a hill and hid the three of them there. Once he
made sure no one was following him, he sat down and hissed
through his teeth. His stomach, arms, and wrists were bleeding,
and the marks around his eyes had gotten darker and burned more.
He held his head and rocked back and forth, muttering nonsense
again, trying to calm down.
"Why is a raven like a writing desk...?" He muttered, breathing
heavily, "The clockwork's not ticking properly... Maybe
crumbs... in the butter..."

"David...?" Cerys asked uncertainly. She knelt next to him,
touching his arm gently. "It's alright... It's okay... We're out
of that awful place..." she said soothingly, using the same tone
she often used with Sora. "It's alright..."

"David...?"
David flinched when Cerys touched his arm. His eyes shot open
and the marks around his eyes started to disappear. He felt
light headed and didn't even heard what else Cerys said. He
groaned and rubbed his eyes with the heels of his palms. When he
stopped, he eyes the blood on his wrists and sighed.
"We need to keep moving..." He said quietly as he began to stand
up. Pain finally caught up with him and his stomach burned,
making him stay seated. "Aaah..." He hissed in pain, putting his
hand over the burn on his stomach. "Damn it..."

Cerys looked down at David, concerned. "You're not going
anywhere soon," she noted. "And if you're not going, then
neither am I." She sat down next to him without looking at him,
biting her lip. There was a long pause, then she said quietly,
"I'm sorry... if it wasn't for me, you wouldn't be in this
mess..." She brushed tiny, sparkling tears off her cheeks, still
not looking at David. She felt completely worthless. It was all
her fault that he had gotten hurt. Because she was so stupid, so
willing to believe...
She bit her lip harder, trying not to completely break down.
Sora laid down next to her and put his head in her lap. She
scratched the area behind his ears, looking down at him sadly.
He glanced up at her, his clear blue eyes reassuring. However,
she felt far from reassured... he was trying to convince her
that it would be all right, but she just became more and more
certain that if she had never gone to Korika in the first place,
none of this would have happened. I'm such an idiot...

David shuddered. "I should've told you what I was going to
do..." He said softly, "And I was a complete fool for thinking
Dodo would've helped you..." He softly cursed himself. "What the
hell was I thinking?" He asked himself out loud in a hushed
voice, "I mean, after all that's happened...?!"

Cerys looked up at David. Her lip was bleeding from her biting
it so hard. "What do you mean, what's happened...?" she asked
softly. There was a pause and she turned away again. "I don't
mean to pry, but..."

David stiffened up when Cerys asked what happened. Anything but
that, He thought bitterly, remembering back to that day. Cerys
wasn't looking at him, thank God, but he could feel his face
start to burn again as the dark marks reappeared around his
eyes. "N-nothing..." He tried to lie, but failed miserably. Of
all the lies he'd ever told in his life, why couldn't he lie
about this?!
