Rondo almost lashed out at the chef, but didn't bother, not
wanting to cause a scene. "Uh huh." He walked by and touched
Courtney's shoulder with his clean hand. "Sorry." At the sink,
he washed his wound, cursing under his breath. He sighed and
applied a bandaid and went back over to the counter and started
wiping it down. His entire body was tense. He felt he was ready
to explode.

She looks down and see's blood getting on the fruit and on the
counter. But before she can speak the chef comes over and jerks
the knife from Rando's hands. "You idiot. Now every peice of
food on this counter has to be thrown out. Courtney. Get in the
fridge and get some fresh fruit. Rando, go clean up and get a
bandaid on that cut. This time try not to cut yourself." The
chef snapped. Courtney squeaked and hurried off to get the
fruit.

He just shook his head at her question. It'd been years since
he'd seen his father. He didn't dare go into talking about his
mother. At the thought of his mother, he slipped and sliced into
his thumb. He was so lost in thought that he didn't notice. What
he did notice was the slight pain in Courtney's voice. Rondo had
a habit of bringing up painful subjects. He smiled over at her
again, still oblivious to the blood and pain in his thumb.

She frowned. "Is your dad still alive?" A sad pang ran through
her. She had not thought about her parents in a long time.
Having been orphaned as a child. She continued chopping though.
"Grit, spit and a little elbow grease. That sucker'll slide
right it." She laughed averting the subject from that of
parents. The pang however was still there. She just continued
chopping.

He couldn't stop grinning. Rondo looked over at her, but didn't
mess up on his chopping. "We'll make it fit." He winked and
looked down, grabbing another knife, juggling them a bit and
going back to chopping. "No, but my dad was. He taught me how to
cook and everything before the war."

"But Master, there is no lube." She reached over into the
vegetable bin and pulled out a carrot. "How ever will it fit?"
She laughed and tossed the carrot back and began to chop. She
looked over to the chef who did not look pleased but continued
his work. "So Rando, your good at this. You been a chef before?"

Rondo turned back and winked at Courtney before having a pair of
gloves and a hair net shoved into him. With a grumble, he put
them on. He snapped the bottom of one glove against his wrist
and held up one finger. "Bend over, Courtney." He laughed and
went over, grabbing a knife, twirling it in his hand before
chopping the fruit as if he had been doing so for years. "Say,
oh master Chef. Are you a man or what?"

"Don't piss of the cook. You don't like the cook when he's
angry." Courtney whispered, and had to cover her mouth to keep
from laughing. The cook walked over and held out a box of latex
gloves. "Put these on and start chopping some fruit. Over there.
Oh, don't forget these." He handed them some hair nets. After
putting on her gloves and hair net, she walked over and grabbed
a knife and began chopping. "So I"m pretty sure the cook is a
guy, but I cant be sure. Go as his name?"

Rondo laughed a bit. "I suppose I'm a bit excited. Though I must
say, I'm more terrified of the hormones than I was having
grenades and bullets flying at me." A gentle smile spread across
his lips and quickly vanished when he seen the cook. "I think
it's both." A playful smirk appeared and he stepped forward a
bit. "Excuse me, but I was wondering. Are we going to be cooking
FOR the children or are we cooking THEM?" His question was
directed at the cook, who didn't appear pleased by his playful
question.

Courtney smiled when he tapped her on the shoulder. "Oh yes
thrilled. I'm Courtney. Pleasure to meet you Rando Barton." She
looked back to the secretary for a moment then back to him. "I
don't know about you, but it was my dream to come back to a high
school, and clean up and feed a bunch of hormone driven
children. On the bright side at least I have someone here thats
just as excited to work here as I am. It's a pleasure to meet
you." Before anything more could be said they reached the
kitchen. The cook in there looked like something out of a horror
story. "Is that a man or a woman?" She whispered. She was
genuinely unsure.

With a sign, Rondo went to the desk. When the secretary told him
what he'd be doing, he was shocked. Now he was reduced to
serving people. With a sigh, he changed into his uniform, much
to the dismay of the secretary. He was signing the papers when
the woman came out. He shot her a smile and finished signing. He
didn't enjoy the sound of cleaning bathrooms, but the kitchen
work didn't sound to bad. When the secretary led them to the
door, Rondo taped the woman on the shoulder. "Hey, excited to be
slaving for a bunch of kids?" He chuckled a bit and extended his
hand. "I'm Rondo Barton."

Courtney watched as the man sat down. The secretary waved the
man over and looked to Courtney. "Go change into your uniform
and come back to me. Don't forget this." She reached into her
desk pulling out some nail polish remover. "Wash your hands when
your done. I will take you down to the kitchen momentarily."
Courtney headed to the restroom and changed. The black top with
the logo on it that said the name of the company she was at. It
was a little tight but she managed. She washed the make up off
and polish off. Finished putting on her uniform and hurried back
to the office. The man was signing some papers. The secretary
gave her some as well. "Sign these and we will get you started.
You both will be starting in the kitchen. So come with me.
Tomorrow we will get you into the fun stuff, like cleaning
bathrooms and such. But for now kitchen work is what you will be
doing." The secretary stood and led the way to the door.
Courtney looked over at the man. Her stomach dropping as she
looked back and forth between their uniforms. She never thought
she would be back at a high school.

The shaking of his room woke Rondo from his sleep. He threw the
sheets off and sat up, swinging his legs over the side of the
bed and leaning over, his head in his hands. "When will they
end..." He spoke silently to himself and stood up, looking
around his small one room apartment for his pants. After
slipping them on, he went over to the mirror. He looked
exhausted. His dark copper hair was messy and dirty looking. He
turned on the tap and washed his hair, threw some water in his
face, brushed his teeth, threw on a black tee that hugged his
slightly muscular frame and went out the door.
The day felt like any other. Boring. Rondo searched his pockets
and pulled out a piece of paper with an address written on it.
He shrugged and decided to go and check it out. He walked into
the building and spotted a woman in an large hoodie talking to a
secretary. He had no idea where he was, so he sat down in a
nearby chair, thinking.

Courtney groaned when she looked in the mirror. She never liked
what she saw when she looked in the mirror. Too many freckles,
that made her skin look blotchy and red, reddish brown hair,
that had very little luster or bounce to it. She was generally
fit, but she had undersized breasts, and longish legs and arms.
She often felt like she was so unproportioned that she would
never be seen as attractive. She cupped her breasts trying to
make them look bigger, then let them go. This would not work. So
she threw on a big oversized hoodie that did not show her lack
of figure, and tied her hair up in a pony tail. After finishing
dressing she took one final look in the mirror. No amount of
make up was going to cover up the freckles on her face. So she
put on a little eye liner and a little mascara. Then it was out
the door.
She was on her way to her new job. No clue what she was supposed
to do, her friend got her in at her friends cousins job. She
went to the directed address. After a deep breath she pushed the
door open and walked in. "Hi you must be the new girl, please go
right into the office. They will get you an apron and everything
else you need." The secretary said. So Courtney gave a gentle
knock on the door and pushed it open. Almost instantly she was
in trouble. "Hi, you must be Cour- whats that on your nails?"
The mans eyes drifted to her nails which where painted back.
"Um- nail polish?" His face reddened at her words. "I know what
it is, why do you have it on? What part of show up clean and
ready to work did you not understand? Go speak to my secretary,
she will give you what you need to remove that filthy stuff, and
tell her to take you down to the kitchen." He pushed a box to
her and waved his hand. "Get out of my office." Courtney quickly
hurried to the door. "And take off that fucking make up."
