"Ah! Wrong wrong wrong!" A voice came shouting from the
distance. A female's voice, no doubt. One of extreme beauty but
oddly distorted by the magnified annoyance. "This is an absolute
wreck!" The voice traveled again, much closer this time.
Suddenly, brunette hair was all that was seen aside from the
line of gold, orange, and red light. A woman of magnificently
designed proportions came blitzing through at a pace like no
other, her back bending in an odd manner and her right leg
propelling her to the side. Her entire form twisted and bent in
such a fashion it nearly seemed impossible. She hooked her right
leg upon a branch of a tree and swung herself to the side, an
acrobat no doubt. One of great knowledge of her abilities in
order to be able to preform so lightly upon her feet.
Intelligence was brash and well laid out as it showed greatly
through her work. She flung her body to the ground and landed
gracefully upon her feet. Ribbons and ropes of the three colours
seen before were twisted around her, some flaring up like flames
and some just being so elegant in composure.
Brunette, hair was shaggy and carelessly thrown about as she
stood there. She raised a fingerless gloved hand to her jaw,
rubbing it in thought. "This is ridiculous, why am I practicing
when I have nothing to present at?" She mumbled, shaking her
head. A bright smile curled plump tan lips, producing pearly
whites with four odd canines. Two elongated ones at the top, the
colour of the sea, two on the bottom, the same colour but not as
long. She sort of resembled a canine of sorts, though her other
appearances made he seem more feline and rabbit. Possibly both?
She wore baggy black cargo pants that hung around voluptuous
hips, a black long sleeved unitard that hugged her well founded
bust tightly, and a loosely fitting cropped black jacket.
Suspenders hung freely from her pants and her two differently
colored eyes were absolutely amazing to some but frightening to
others. One of angelic blues and purples, the other of hellish
reds and greens. Tan flesh was riddled with white scars from
head to toe, one crossing her freckled cheeks and over the
bridge of her nose. Her hands rested on her hips as she looked
around with a curious gaze. Feline, canine, rabbit, what ever
she was; she was quite the observant creature. Her name, Jai.
Now Jai was mainly a curious creature, yes, but she did tread
lightly upon many things. The vicious cannibalistic mermaids
being one thing she did tread lightly on. Though as her form
swooned forward, she found herself actively close to one of the
creatures. Now most of the time, she was well aware they often
only messed with males, though some did attempt to gather their
claws into a female. Long rabbit like ears twitched slightly as
she examined the seemingly beautiful face of the creature,
medium sized cotton tail waving about excitedly as she grinned.
"Ooo... So vicious beneath the tolls of manipulation! You're so
skilled, m'dear. I'd love to get a bit closer." She whispered,
that tantalizing and maliciously dripped voice sounded like acid
retreating through floorboards as she neared the face of the
mermaid. Grinning ever so before she suddenly turned her head
and licked right up the side of the creature's face. This earned
an odd reaction, a screech of disgust as Jai fell onto her back
upon the rock laughing hysterically. Many assumed Jai was beyond
insane, though she was just lively in the way she put it. Before
the mermaid could snatch at her ankle, Jai had long retreated up
       further, still laughing.

Jakobi grunted as he clambered down off his horse. Such a slow
creature, he hated riding them, but if Saphira were seen here,
he was sure they would find him. Pulling his hood up over his
head, he tied the horse to a large metal ring around the back of
a nearby Inn and looked up at the sky. Somewhere up there...
Shaking his head, he frowned and turned his dark gaze towards
the ocean, blinking as he watched the sky. It seemed a storm was
brewing, preparing to move closer to engulf the town in rain.
With a sigh, his gaze once more returned to the sky above him
for a brief second before he began to make his way down to the
shore. He would at least get some fresh air until the storm hit,
it had been a long time since he had been near the sea.
Looking out over the water, he slipped his hands into the
pockets of his baggy jeans and began to wonder whether Saphira
was okay. Had she found a place to land? Had she found somewhere
safe? Hopefully she would have found a cave somewhere, some
place hidden from view and clear out of the rain. I am safe,
little one. The soft voice spoke into his head. Clearly she had
felt his concern. Smiling to himself, he allowed himself to
       relax and enjoy the view.
It was then that he saw a peculiar sight. A man sat on the rocks
with a mermaid uncomfortably close to him. By the looks of it,
he was about to lose his life to the kiss of the creature, but
it seemed the spell was broken and he merely escaped with a
bitten foot. Frowning, he spoke to Saphira and told her what he
       had seen.
Should I help? He asked her, unsure if it was safe for him to go
       near strangers these days.
Yes, he may need assistance. Saphira's reply was short and
Jakobi could feel the annoyance in her voice, like he had asked
a stupid question. Huffing at her, he lowered his hood to reveal
the mop of black hair that covered his head and hid part of his
face, before heading over to the stranger.
"Excuse me," he spoke curiously in a hard, yet comforting
British tone. "I couldn't help but see what happened. Is your
foot alright?" An apple-green eye peered at him with specks of
teal, a look of concern on his face as his gaze lowered to the
man's foot. If he was injured badly, he would heal him, but if
it wasn't too bad, he wouldn't risk alerting people nearby that
he could use magic. Especially since he hadn't yet learnt how to
perform it without speaking out loud, at least if he'd been able
to do that then he could have hidden the fact that he could
       speak the ancient language.

Just over two months ago and the little coastal town would have
been brimming with noisy tourists, drawn to the sea for a bit of
water and salt-laced maritime air to improve their health,
sunburning their complexion sienna. But now swimming season is
ended, and the scenic beaches are bleached monochrome under an
uneventful grey sky, waves crashing despondently against black
rocks like skeletons of wrecks. The town perches precariously
against the sea; the rocky beach at the bottom separates land
and the vast expanse of grey water. Spirits ride on the combed
heads of swaying waves. When you close your eyes at night, you
       can hear the mermaids sing.
       ***
But for once, the night was silent.
The residual mermaid's laments had ground to a sickening halt
that clearly disturbed Deidara. The night air was heavy; the
uneventful sky full of malice, and a unnatural heaviness that he
hadn't sensed, or even felt before in the short time that he had
remained in the seaside down. The air's scent was damp, and he
was sure that either a storm, or at the very least rain would
soon fall upon this disgusting silence. A pale hand was placed
flat upon the jagged rock, that he was once been to terrified to
step upon when the sea was this high; and sat, bare toes dipping
into the icy water. The artist shivered, and allowed his eyes to
slip closed. There was no singing to lull him into the sweet
unconsciousness that he loved, no he adored; sweet voices
reflected weeping, and harsh screeches of terror. Whatever was
going on, the mermaids knew about it. It frightened them, and
they refused to come up from the surface to sing to him. Those
cerulean eyes eased open, and found his face almost nose-to-nose
with one of the beautiful creatures. For a moment, the sculptor
was breathless; the mermaid's beauty having captured it between
       it's manipulative grasp.
       The silver glint of her tail rose from the sea's rough waves;
her lips moving dangerously close to his own. Then, the spell
was broken -- A kiss from a mermaid kept a sailor from drowning,
from disappearing under the murky depths, and never to be found.
Was it true? The artist had no intention of find out. Oneof his
hands moved to the mermaid's cold, emerald glinting skin, and
shoved her back beneath the waves. The woman let out a feral
snarl; the once normal looking teeth losing the glamour that had
made them appear normal, and sunk razor sharp teeth into his
foot. Deidara hissed, his fist drawing back and sinking into the
once-beautiful face. What the folklore had neglected to mention,
was that mermaids were in fact, cannibalistic, and used their
beauty to lure weak-hearted men into their territory. The artist
scrambled up from the sea-level rock, and up to greater heights.
"Bloody women, you can't trust them as far as you can throw
them," He grumbled, his eyes inspecting the seeping wound that
curved around the soft flesh of his foot with a shiver. He would
likely bet that it was that time of the month. The artist
sighed, and began to limp back over the rocks, and closer
       towards the shore.
