Species Description: Gems are an extraterrestrial species of
"magical" beings that play a key role in Steven Universe.
Gems are an intergalactic race which 5,750 years ago maintained
several outposts on Earth, with plans to completely colonize the
planet, but were driven off by Rose Quartz's rebellion, leaving
the Crystal Gems, and the corrupted Gems, the only Gems on the
planet, except for a small group of stranded Gems from the Gem
Homeworld.
Basic Description: Garnet is the tallest of the remaining
Crystal Gems, but the second-shortest fusion (Stevonnie stands
inches shorter than Garnet). She is the most muscular Gem of the
group. Her right eye is a medium ruby-red, her left a medium
sapphire-blue, while the center third eye is a reddish-violet,
resembling the combination of blue and red. Her gemstones are
embedded in her palms (with Sapphire's on her right and Ruby's
on her left, which reversely correlates to her eyes colors).
Garnet's hair resembles Ruby's, and her upper body part
resembles Sapphire's.
Personality: Though she is often the most pragmatic and
straightforward of the Crystal Gems, Garnet tends to act on
intuition rather than seriously analyzing a situation, as often
seen throughout the series. As the leader, Garnet is often the
peacemaker of the Crystal Gems, especially when Pearl and
Amethyst start arguing. She demands utmost respect from the
other Crystal Gems and is not hesitant to berate team members
should they refuse to follow an order.
Abilities: Garnet possesses standard Gem abilities and traits.
Skillset: Gauntlet Proficiency: When channeling the collective
power of the universe through her gemstones, Garnet can summon a
pair of gauntlets. Garnet is highly proficient when using her
gauntlets and is extremely skilled in hand-to-hand combat. She
can deal massive strikes that can deal a heavy amount of damage
and deliver swift blows with lightning speed. As of "Bismuth",
Garnet's gauntlets have had spiked brass knuckles added onto
them.
Fusions:
When fused with Amethyst, they form Sugilite.
When fused with Pearl, they form Sardonyx.
When fused with Amethyst and Pearl, they form Alexandrite.

Gems are an intergalactic race which 5,750 years ago maintained
several outposts on Earth, with plans to completely colonize the
planet, but were driven off by Rose Quartz's rebellion, leaving
the Crystal Gems, and the corrupted Gems, the only Gems on the
planet, except for a small group of stranded Gems from the Gem
Homeworld. Humans are the most populous sentient species on
Earth. The humans in Steven Universe seem to be aware of the
magical creatures and happenings around them and coexist with
them.
Basic Description: According to Pearl, Steven takes after both
his parents, Rose and Greg, respectively. He is relatively short
with a thick, stocky build. He has curly black-brown hair and
full black irises. He wears a salmon-pink T-shirt with a gold
star in the center of it. He also wears blue jeans with sky-blue
cuffs and salmon-pink flip-flop sandals. His gemstone, a rose
quartz, which he inherited from his mother, is where his navel
should be.
Personality: Steven is an optimistic, friendly, outgoing, and
carefree boy with a happy-go-lucky attitude that is appreciated
by many of the citizens of Beach City in one way or another. He
is musically inclined, a trait he inherits from his father, with
a propensity for breaking out into song and occasionally playing
on his ukulele. Steven is also very kind-hearted, good-natured,
and compassionate, something which Pearl notes he inherits from
his mother, and he deeply loves his friends and family. He is
friendly toward almost everyone he meets, rarely holds grudges,
and is very non-discriminatory, never treating anyone with
prejudice, even towards his enemies. No matter the situation,
Steven will always go out of his way to support his loved ones,
even if it means putting his life on the line, and he will avoid
resorting to violence. He would much rather make a compromise
and choose reasoning than fighting back.
Abilities: Being a human/Gem hybrid, Steven is capable of using
magic, though it is unknown if he possesses all the abilities of
a pure Gem, such as retreating to their gemstone when taking
fatal damage. As associated with his gemstone, Steven's powers
are maternal in nature and the control of his gemstone is based
on emotional clarity.

Basic Description: Amethyst is shorter than most of the
characters, rivaling Steven's height (seeing that normal quartz
are large soldiers, she is half the height of other quartz Gems,
such as Jasper and Rose due to being in the ground for an extra
500 years), with an almost stout build. Amethyst's skin is a
bright lilac, and her hair is a pale lavender color. She has
plump lips, a small, upturned nose, and a large bang which
obscures her left eye. She also has dark indigo eyes. Her
gemstone is located on her chest.
Personality: Amethyst is fun-loving and carefree. Loud and full
of laughter, she is easily amused and very impulsive. Amethyst
is often used as comic relief. She is bad-mannered, rude,
untidy, but still good-hearted and protective. Her
overprotectiveness of her junk marks her as somewhat of a
hoarder.
Abilities: Amethyst possesses standard Gem abilities and traits.
Skillset: Morning-Star/Whip Proficiency: Amethyst is very
skilled with her whip, and mixes very well with her immense
strength. She uses her whip to lash at opponents and cause
damage that is strong enough to easily split a dumpster in half.
Her lashes are sometimes so precise that they cut through
objects in a clean line. Occasionally, she uses her whip to grab
onto objects or lift them and throw them at the enemy. Her
fighting style can sometimes be considered reckless and
foolhardy; in "Monster Buddies", she used her whip to pull the
Centipeetle Mother towards her, knocking her and the other
Crystal Gems down. Amethyst can throw her whip to entangle or
bind her target from afar. As of "Bismuth", Amethyst's whip has
been upgraded to a morning star. It is also implied by Bismuth
that her whip is unique among Quartzes.
Fusions:
When fused with Pearl, they form Opal.
With Ruby and Sapphire (or Garnet), they form Sugilite.
With Ruby and Sapphire (or Garnet) and Pearl, they form
Alexandrite.
With Steven, they form Smoky Quartz.

Basic Description: Pearl has a slender, thin build, ivory skin,
sky-blue eyes, a pointed nose and thin lips. She is quite tall
for a non-fusion Gem; towering over Amethyst, Ruby, Sapphire,
Peridot, and Steven alike. She is nearly equal height (with
hair) to Garnet's chin. Her hair has a peach-pink color and
resembles a pixie-cut in the front, while in the back, her hair
leads to a point. Pearl is usually drawn without eyelashes or
pupils, although they have been seen in some (or a select few)
close-ups. Pearl's gemstone is located in the middle of her
forehead and has no facets.
Personality: Pearl is a perfectionist knowledgeable on a
plethora of topics that values organization. Pearl has a
penchant for symmetry (going so far as to impale M.C. Bear Bear
to maintain the symmetry of a pile of appliances and school
supplies) and a high attention to detail.
Abilities: Pearl possesses traits and abilities that are common
among all Gems.
Skillset: Spear Proficiency: Through her many years of training,
Pearl can summon her weapon, a pearlescent spear. Pearl is very
skilled in the art of spear-wielding and goes in tandem with her
pattern of fighting that involves formal (Ballet) dancing. She
moves gracefully and swiftly, attacking with grace and poise.
She stays calm and collected during melee battles, duels, and
skirmishes. Pearl also has great skill in throwing her spear.
This was proven in "Giant Woman", and "Beach Party". As of
"Bismuth", Pearl's spear has been upgraded to be able to turn
into a trident.
Fusions: When fused with Amethyst, they form Opal.
When fused with Rose Quartz, they form Rainbow Quartz.
When fused with Ruby and Sapphire (or Garnet), they form
Sardonyx.
When fused with Ruby, Sapphire (or Garnet), and Amethyst, they
form Alexandrite.

Basic Description: Nacre is a rather short gem compared to the
others, being only a few inches taller than Amethyst. She's not
very muscular, but she is very nimble and quick. Her eyes are an
icy blue, moonstone's reflecting through. Her gemstone is
embedded in her forehead. Her attire is a mixture of
Orthoclase's and Moonstone's various objects pulled from it. Her
hair is representative of Moonstone's but leans towards more
with Orthoclase with the clothing.

Abilities: Nacre possess standard gem abilities.

Basic Description: Orthoclase is one of the taller of the gems,
relatively close to Amethyst. He's very fast but relatively
weak. His eyes are bright like oranges, yet always seem empty.
His gemstone is embedded in his forehead, a light orange color
to match. His hair is kept slicked back and out of the way,
keeping it mildly short, a little long near the top and short
near the back.

size of Sapphire. She's extremely weak and not very fast, making
her an easy target. Her eyes are an ocean blue, reflecting the
depths of the moon pool. Her gemstone is embedded in her
forehead in a teardrop shape. Her hair is a smooth white that
flows freely.
