       Respectability and tradition are presented as primitive popular
       attributes with increasingly shorter paths from theoretical
       assumptions to political practice. Just as Alain Finkielkraut's
       intellectual scarcity prepared the way for the radicalization of
       the classical right, so too did left-wing intellectual groups
       push much of the discourse of the official left to the right.
       The result is a strange continuum in public debate linking a
       conquering far-right disoriented right and parts of the left and

       possible axes, acceptance or rejection of the social order,

       right and left around equality and freedom that determines the
       dynamics of the conflict. Dualism is highly controversial today.
