       Blackbeard is a famous Pattersonian pirate.
       Biography:
       Early life
       Blackbeard was born Edward Thatch, and changed his name when he
       became a pirate. He and his ship, the Queen Anne’s Revenge,
       became highly feared, though he had a compassionate side.
       First duel with Jones
       “I’ve an idea, mate. What do you say you and I have a duel? The
       winner would be declared King of the Seas.”

       Some time before the Great War, Blackbeard challenged Davy Jones
       (Jake) to a duel. The winner would be declared King of the Seas.
       Thatch said he would fight Jones and the Kraken, on one
       condition: he could bring one second to the fight. Jones agreed.
       The two pirate captains met on a rope bridge in a massive
       water-filled arena. The Kraken was released into the arena and
       the fight began.
       At first, Jones beat Thatch back and seemed to be winning due
       to his enormous strength and brutal attacks, but Blackbeard
       blocked his strikes and gained the advantage with his quick,
       systematic slashing. The Kraken attacked the bridge, starting to
       pull it down, but Blackbeard yelled, “Release the beast!” and
       the massive door on his side of the arena opened. Yurgen the
       Angistorhinus, his personal sea dragon and second, swam out.
       Yurgen charged the Kraken and bit off one of its arms. Thatch
       and Yurgen then cut the ropes of the bridge, causing one end to
       fall. The pirates hung on and dueled as they climbed up the
       fallen bridge. Below, the two massive beasts battled, Yurgen
       seeming to have the upper hand.
       “Open the gate!” Jones bellowed, and the massive door rose,
       allowing the Kraken to escape. Yurgen turned his attention to
       the pirate captains. He smashed into the rope bridge, throwing
       Jones off and onto his head. The pirate balanced on the dragon’s
       snout and slashed at the beast. Yurgen threw Jones off with such
       force that the captain was tossed up to the railing of the
       arena. He grabbed it and climbed out. Blackbeard climbed up the
       dangling bridge and up to the edge.
       Jones conceded the duel and Blackbeard was named King of
       the Seas. Jones, however, said that it was only a title, not an
       actual kingship.
       Skirmish at Youngstown
       In the year 2035, Blackbeard and his friend General Grievous

       />were en route to Fort Knowledge by starship when they were
       ambushed by a small Smithsonian fleet. Their frigate was downed
       and crashed outside the town of Youngstown. Davy Jones and the
       Nameless Wizard exited one of the Smithsonian vessels, followed
       by about twenty troops, and attacked. Jones and Blackbeard
       dueled while Nameless dealt with Grievous. Finally, Grievous and
       Thatch escaped.
       Physical appearance:
       "And there was this one man, who look'd more like ah leader than
       t' rest. He stepped forward. Tall 'e was, and slender; his beard
       was huge and sort of a very dark brownish black, an' 'is sword
       was at 'is side. Scared me outta ma wits, he did."

       Blackbeard wears a huge black beard. His build is tall (over 11
       cm by all accounts), and rather thin, but he is known for being
       stronger than he looks, even with the intimidation factor.

       Blackbeard is renowned for his skill with a sword. He held his
       own against Davy Jones

       />on numerous occasions, and even managed to get the upper hand
       a
       few times.
       Sailing skills
       Thatch is known for his skills as a sailor and captain nearly as
       much as he is feared for his pirating.
       Leadership and strategy

       Though he is not a kind man, Thatch is popular with his crew. He
       is also known as a great strategist, easily capturing outposts
       with only a few ships.
       Weapons

       Blackbeard is known for his tendency to use multiple weapons in
       combat. He uses, among other weapons, the Sword of Triton,
       cutlasses, knives, grenades, and pistols.
