NRL 2013
By: SZaucy Date: February 27, 2013, 10:26 pm
---------------------------------------------------------
Just thought I'd start a general NRL discussion topic for the
season ahead.
I am looking forward to the season even though a lot of people
probably don't rate the Panthers chances, I will remain hopeful
and see how we go.
On attending matches, I already have been to the Panthers Eels
trial match, enjoying box seats for the first time ;D. I will
be at the opening match too next Thursday with some of my mates
who for some reason are Roosters fans ???.
Finally on the comp in general I can see Melbourne doing very
well again, they looked very good against Leeds last weekend for
the first proper match of the year. Bulldogs I have a question
mark next to now with the Barba situation, Sharks and Cowboys
will be very strong. Souths I think will ride on whether
Reynolds can keep his form up or will he suffer second year
syndrome.

I think the Panthers will do a lot better than everyone thinks.
They are favourites for the spoon and I am liking that because
I'm looking for odds on other teams for it. Phil Gould annoys
the hell out of me (more the guy i love to hate). But I gotta
admit he is a clever bloke when it comes to footy. I doubt he
has money on Panthers for the spoon. I think Penrith will win a
few. And surprise some of the bigger teams.
Roosters on paper look pretty bloody good. Two good halves in
finch and maloney, a class fullback in mini, a speedster in
Jennings, a good offloader in SBW and an enforcer in Luke
Odonnell. But then a team of champions doesn't beat a champion
team. But I'll be watching them to see how they go.
I think Manly might have a bad season,
I think Doggies will struggle in the big games without Barba.
I think Broncos will make the finals again but don't see them
taking it out.
I think the Cowboys have been building towards something. Maybe
it's there year. Them and Cronulla. I'm backing someone who's
never won it will take it out this year.

Two good halves in finch and maloney,

I am guessing this should say Pearce.
The Roosters is a tough one, good on paper may not result in on
field success. The halves need to combine well, Pearce can be
good on his day and Maloney is not a great defender and didn't
end 2012 well with the Warriors so the jury is still out on them
as far as I'm concerned.

I hope Souths can take it out this year. Inglis is primed for a
big year. If Reynolds can stand up they will take it out.
Storm will be up there like every other year. I think the
Raiders will go alright with another years experience under
their young squads belt.
Manly I hope will unearth some new talent. They have signed a
few untested guys. Here's hoping the trend continues. If we have
too many injuries we will limp into the finals. We need our
young halves to live up to their promise. T Rex won't be much of
a loss. He spent most of last year on the sidelines anyway. He
will save us a few costly penalties.
Doggies will take a dive without Barbra. He is their key player.
Sorry guys but Panthers for the spoon. How could they possibly
get any better without Lewis and Jennings. Sure Jennings was
lazy with a poor attitude. Oh and Gordan was no slouch. Dragons
and eels to fight it out for 15th. Warriors will have another
poor year too.
I expect the Tigers to go alright under their new coach. He
seems to ave his head screwed on.
