Season II: We're expecting BIG things....!
By: AceAv Date: February 14, 2013, 8:56 am
---------------------------------------------------------
What's in store for Season II?? -Well I'm glad you asked! :o
We have been watching the progression of the comps and can
safely say after 11 rounds since mid Dec everybody is ready to
head into the finals! -rounds take on average 1 week to
finalize, 20% of you will betray us and drop out, and the
Raiders/Dogs are just plain freaks at footy.
Division II kicked off with a bang after some trial and error &
we can safely say it's in full swing thanks to all of you! :-*
-But where to from here?..
After some careful research and some discussions with Benz and
the other members, I would like to propose the following changes
to season II:
-12 Week seasons: It's nice to play everyone once. But now we
have gotten that out of the way, I think the way the ladder is
shaped at the moment we can safely say the teams that deserve to
be in the 8 ARE. With the top 8 and bottom 8 going into their
own separate "finals formats" no one is missing out and having
to make plans for Mad Monday
Balanced Divisions: Holy ****, I am bottom of the table! and the
season for the Broncos has been filled with many spankings that
don't look like coincidences :O. I can name over 10 coaches in
my division that on a bad day, will still steal the win from me
with their amazing timings, cool headed control on the game and
BS fend abilities!! get me outta here and amongst the safety of
my fellow ****kunts (no offense!) -So with this in mind we have
noted the bottom 4 div1 players will be demoted to div2. -but if
more of you cringe at the thought of playing Forsyth, Pweopweo,
Camba, C-America, and the rest of those guns on a competitive
level, please feel free to demote yourself also (if a div2
player will swap). The results of div2 will certainly be
telltale, but I can say there are some real experts in that
league also that need to be going toe-2-toe a little more with
their fellow pros!
Combined Ladder: Benz came up with a great concept to combined
the total scores between both div1 & 2 teams and also post a
combined ladder as a separate ladder to view and create match
ups/tourneys and more co-operative game play amongst the
players. Of course the 2 Divisions will still have their own
separate ladders which berth finalists and allocate prizes. But
we can add a 3d helping of cream to this dessert no?
Random Prizes! We lost a couple this season :( and of the 7-8
coaches that left. Only ONE of them was in the top 6. -So along
with the grand prize for the winners of each comp, -we have had
some great suggestions and offerings from some of the
'philanthropists' of this comp! -So.. We are proposing that if
you stick out the season and play your games like a MAN win or
lose without bombing out, or AFK'in too much. You'll be in the
running for the random prize draw (which could be $ or a NRL
Grand Final ticket, or some Big Ant merch! -but ya gotta be
innit to winnit.
Division 3!!! OK, if you've read this far non-stop. Take a
break, cos this parts got some text to tackle!
-As many of you may be; this game is pretty awesome. But for
some, it's not the kind of awesome that tells you: "You will be
playing this exact version of 'RLL' until your old/grey"
-There's some bugs, there's some repetition that can't be
avoided. And I'm feeling the pinch of frustration and even
boredom at times to the game. Bad AI, slow reacting players,
unrealistic scorelines and many many bugs, has lead me to want
to take the game to new heights and start enjoying the humour
and excitement once felt that allowed me to shrug off these
problems in the past.
Which is why I am proposing a 'Custom Team League' 10-20, even
30 coaches can join! -WHOA slow down Ace, that's too many...
-No, not if you assign 2 coaches to ONE TEAM! I would like to
take this opportunity to introduce 'Coach ShreddAce' A freak
cloning experiment has combined the two coaches 'The Shredder'
and 'AceAv' into one Super Coach -Heading up the QLD Maroons!
(Or Bronco's, we're still in talks). But this team has some
serious power!!
If any of you are unfamiliar with the Footy Factory, let me say
-it''s pretty awesome! You can make your own custom team, name
that team, choose jersey/colours and then create your own fully
customizable players to fill that team with! -And yes that means
you can tweak each players stats. -"But Ace, serrriously who
wants to play with a bunch of 99 statted players for each
attribute!?"
-Well my friend, Big Ant were smart enough to limit how much
stats you can attribute to one single player. Basically if I
made an even stevens player, they would have maybe 75-80 stats
down the line.
This really gives you the power to tailor the kind of team you
like. Love shoulder charging? -Great make a team of 99 Shoulder
chargers and have a Ben Barba to sprint onto their line
breaks.... Fend much??? well, you get the drift...
Our QLD/BRI team is typically going to be a classic
Bronco's/QLD/new era mix:
1. K.Hunt, 2. Yow Yeh, 3. A. Langer 4. J Hodges 5. W.Carne 6.
D.Lockyer 7. W. Lewis 8. B.Hannant 9. S. Renouf 10. Civo 11. G.
Tallis 12. S. Thaiday 13. T. Carrol 14. K. Walters 15. W. Sailor
16. M. Hancok 17. I. Folau 18. AceAv 19. Shredder -two rookie
backs that have worked their way to the big league in
scintillating form!! (more to come)
Darren Lockyer was reborn tonight and played a great 1st half vs
CARAVANWARZ to put QLD in sizzlingform! -Seeing him out there
really added to the passion for this game, and I want to give
you all the opportunity to make your own classic (dogs, manly,
knights etc) sides along with another passionate fan, and play
out a big season!!
Settings: -Some tweaking needed here yes. -In the interest of
making a game more about defense 1st and good play the
balls/passing/field pos I am proposing
-20 min games
-Injuries medium/extreme (random 1-3 weeks out for injured
players -making way for some good shuffling with an all star
bench to pick from)
-12 Interchange (to keep AI fresh and strategies elusive!)
-Difficulty Veteran (Holding down in the tackle is crucial to
keeping defensive lines solid and the 1 second u usually get
here is more realistic to the time it takes most tackles to play
the ball. This may also actually see 20-40 meter sets be played
> 70-80m sets with a try to finish 90% of the time :P)
Players rotate who plays each week. 1 person may run their own
club, but 2 is recommended which can also prevent drop outs
*more info on this part to follow
Prizes:
-Small prize only, given the prediction you will be murdering
your own gold fish to get into this thing!
-Please post your suggestions below and watch this space for
more info!

With new divisions come new mods and it's my pledge to allocate
a Szaucy Prodigy for you! I know there are a few people who
would love to get into this role!

My idea of a club championship was just to combine the ladders
at the end of the season. We don't have to work on this during
the season.
I am excited about season 2! We are going to be playing AND
watching NRL on TV. If watching a good game and wanting to jump
on for a good game is your thing then you're at the right place
:)

Whoa -- I had a break for a couple of days and came back to
this! Interesting idea. But I think I would want limitations on
stats beyond what BigAnt has put up, notably fend and shoulder.
Perhaps making tackle standard at the highest setting for every
player too... Could be cool. Not sure how many peeps will have
the energy to create their own teams, but for those who do there
is a tonne of potential.

Yup -I considered having limits to the stats dev. But there's
just no simple way of policing this and after trialling a few
games with other ranked on liners that have 80% stats (max) down
the line, things like fend and shoulder don't work on big
forwards with similar settings. Its pretty smooth gaming now
though.
The players we're reacting more when not selected. As in they
wouldn't just stand there and let a player run past them. They
would snap into a tackle, and if fended would get there balance
back quickly (agility). A lot of sets were around 50-60 meters
and kicking early when thy don't expect it was paramount!
I had maybe half my team beefed and decided to take on
sir_forsyth -played a good 45 mins before that possession/try
festival run he always puts on blew the game out!! - was still
proud of Lockyer, webcke renouf etc. Definitely made him
beatable -and an inspiration for us noobiez when taking on the
big boys!

What about bringing in a trade system?
We all contract our players of 1,2,3,4 and 5 years. You get 5
players in each contract year and at least need one star in
each. You can re-sign players but they should be inthe market
for at least 1 week. As you trade 1 for 1. Would need more work
but I think it's a good concept

Love the idea of a trade system -- using players already in the
game. And if players need bumped stats, maybe if the proposed
stats were put forward to a group to give an 'okay' or a
'revised/reccommendation'

Yes we are definatley interested in building this into a trade
system. Don't want to make it compulsory or anything like some
of the other comps have done, but would be happy for players to
do trades and write reports up about why they left etc :P
