It was tipped by some to be the game of the round and it didn't
let anyone down. Manly have defeated the New Zealand warriors
49-30 in a game showcasing the NRLs finest talent. The warriors
got away early with a intercept try to Hurrell to lead by 6
after 4 minutes then 12-0 in the 11th minute. The game looked
like it was getting out of hand before Manly were able to kick
into gear. Manly defended their line with their impersonation of
the Great Wall of China. They repelled 2 sets of six inside
their own 10m zone. They cracked on the 3rd set when they went
over. Scores were locked up 18 all at half time.
Manly showed signed of fatigue with the Warriors finding huge
holes up the middle of the ground. Coach Benz was cleaver to sub
out some tired big men. It was tit for tat until late in the
game when many broke away in the 68th minute. Standout player
was Oldfield who ran for 314m from 14 runs. Is that a record?

Injuries: Manu Vatuvei, 23min
314m?! My right edge was a turnstile after Manu went off.

I deliberatly targeted him when he was injured. Was able to run
around him to go in for a try. I think he was a game breaker for
you in offence and defence. Could have been a different outcome

Oh I knew you were targeting his absence, and I thought that
made the game quite realistic -- I definitely enjoyed that.
Unfortunately I didn't realise that the position change I made
hadn't taken effect until the second half, but that nor the
injury itself would've changed the outcome. You played superbly
down that side of the park with the ball, but more importantly,
I struggled with your defense from the start and struggled to
find any rhythm. The first 20 mins with Manu I thought were
really scrappy, and in the end 55-45% of possession isn't much
of a disparity -- I'm sure the difference was in the last 20
mins only. You were just better across the park for most of the
match.
