This is a massive step towards the Broncos avoiding the spoon
now. Roosters now have to win 3 of their last 5 to hand it back
to the Broncos and that's only if the Broncos don't win any more
matches!
On the other hand 3 wins for Brisbane would confirm that the
spoon heads to the Eastern Suburbs.
Having said all that Souths, Penrith, New Zealand, Wests, Nrth
Qld, St George, Newcastle, Cronulla, Melbourne and the Gold
Coast could all still get the spoon mathematically.

**BRONCOS DEFEAT A NEVER SAY DIE ROOSTERS**
A packed house at Allianz stadium tonight and fans were not
disappointed. The game kicked off with the Juniors match (10
mins -for 10 cc points -hope thats ok Benz..)
The Jr Roosters setting the stage for their seniors with a 24-0
classy display of discipline and skill. The Jr Broncs worked
overtime and fell short of the try line on 3 occasions, each
time they did.. -Roosters punished them with a try of their own!
-Highlight of the match was the 3d chooks try here with some
great ball movement on the Broncos 40th to get it out to the RH
Centre who makes a clean break and grubbers it into the goal for
his winger to pounce on it. That combination showing some great
hope to avid roosters fans.
The Main Event rumbled the stadium with cheers as emotional
supporters from both sides pleaded for their teams to step up
from their forgettable season. And right from minute one a huge
hit on a roosters player in the process of offloading the ball
by Alex Glenn, saw a forward pass, scrum and quick feet for the
Broncos to score! 0-6
The game settled down from there as both players began
completing their sets and Roosters really were pushing hard on
defense to force the mistake. -Which payed off for them in the
19th minute with a poor offload and a steal to see Jake Friend
plow over and level it 6-6.
The remainder of the 1st half saw all Broncos as they worked
hard to complete and pressure the Roosters in defense. Sam
Thaiday literraly broke his back to shut out some great ball
movement by the chooks and was looking very wobbly out there in
the 30th minute. Langer pleaded for him to sub himself off, but
with the game on the line he charged onto the ball at the
roosters line and did one last shoulder charge/quick play to
give McCollough a walk into the try line (6-12) before earning
himself the rest of the night off. A sloppy penalty by an over
worked Maso'a gave the Broncos a comfortable half time lead of
6-18 by the break.
2d half was a repeat of the opening minutes, but this time it
was the Roosters that capitalized on the error and put
themselves in great stead to tell the 45,000 strong crowd "We
gotta ball game here" 12-18 45th.
The game took off again with sets being completed and players
beginning to feel the sting on the hot Sydney night take hold.
The fresh legs of Josh McGuire in the 55th put the Broncos back
in control of the game after he wound up on the 45m line ready
to charge down anyone who got in his way. Roosters players were
seen diving for cover as he drove his tractor towards the
sticks! 12-24 Broncs.
However the Bondi Boys weren't ready to give up and launched an
assault off a scrum from their own 20m line make great meters
towards the tryline in the set of the evening! -SKD taking
advantage of an over worked Petro. 18-24 60th
Broncos declared war after that and punished the chooks with a
30m shut out, causing an early kick across field to a flying
Beale who put the Broncos straight on the attack. Hannant
stepped up with a massive shoulder charge/offload to Gillet, who
only needed to get up quickly and allow a try line hungry Hunt
to plow over from DH. 18-30 -68th
A clever short kick off quickly gave The Chooks a fighting
chance and they quickly made a set play to the right side >
grubber, that was barely snuffed out by Peter Wallace pouncing
on it in a desperate display of determination. From there on
with 9 to go the Roosters were clearly frustrated and gave away
a cheap penalty to temp the Broncos into finishing them off.
And a polishing they we're given with Beale putting the icing on
the cake in the 75th Minute to make it 18-36 Broncos.
Both coaches were seen laughing and showing good spirit towards
one another after the game. Coach AceAv says:
"It was a game we penciled in on the calender as one we were
going to look forward to, and put on a display of footy to our
fan's that have had a gut wrenching season... I must say after
tonight it's hard to understand how both our teams are sitting
at the bottom of the ladder, as we both have excellent players
and showed some great form in attack and defense. But obviously
we can't be too content and really want to prove to ourselves,
and our fans that the Broncos are a team to be feared in this
comp and hopefully we can do it again next week without our
Captain. -Just want to take this opportunity to thank
Sanepumpkin and the Roosters squad for showing great
sportsmanship and bringing their 'A' game to the table in a
tough contest. We had to dig deep to pull off this win and if
not for a couple tough calls/penalties from the ref, we could
have been pipped here..."
