It is the start of the 2012 season. The excitement at Manly is
electric. The players are looking forward to defending their
2011 Premiership win in this promising comp.
With all the distractions after the well publicized split
between Manly and long serving coach and player of 27 years Des
Hasler. Little was mentioned of the short term appointment of
       former assisant Geoff Toovey.
Toovey was announced as 2012 head Coach, but was soon relegated
back to assistance coach after Adelaide's Under 8's Wooden
Spooners coach benz1980i was discovered by former recuitment
manager Noel Cleal. Cleal, who had been in Adelaide on holiday,
contacted benz1980i's manager (who also happens to be his mum)
after catching wind of Haslers defection to the
Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs. benz1980i was spoken highly of to
Manly boss David Perry. When contacted, Perry had this to say
"we are looking forward to a strong 2012 season with benz1980i
as head coach. He brings alot of enthusiasm to the Club. The
experience he has had in Adelaides U8's will put him in good
stead as a NRL Coach". Manly fought hard to attain the new Coach
paying a reported $1.2 million a season making him the highest
paid Coach in the history of the game.
