An ex used to live with his dad. exes room was upstairs and
dad's was downstairs. one morning the dad and i were talking
and he felt it important to mention how he could hear me over
the fan. not in a mad way or anything but embarrasing
perve :)

The problem with putting on music to drown yourselves out is
that everytime the other housemates hear the music, they know
EXACTLY what you're doing - reminds me of that King of Queens
episode where Deacon and Kelly play the same music up to 6 times
a night . . . !

The obvious solution is to coordinate your schedules. If you
always have sex at the same time, you'll all be too distracted
to notice each other ;)
I've got no real advice. Parents in close proximity when I
started having sex is a large part of the reason I'm still very
quiet during sex today. It's hard to break old habits.

Rainha- Oddly, when it was me, Mom, and Sister sharing a house,
it wans't an issue- the walls were thick, the schedules changed,
and frankly, I am not nearly as bothered by the knowledge that
MY folks have sex as I am by his.
Granted, there is history there. I am totally desensitized to my
folks, we have had WAY too many graphic discussions, lol

Does either bedroom have a computer in it?

It's saved from my killing my cube neighbors more than one. I
swear I work in an echo chamber.

G-Lady - both bedrooms have multiple computers in them, at least
one in each is also a wired connection, so we can give it a try.
Oddly, the kids never hear a dang thing, and they share a wall
with Spouse and I. Either they are hard sleepers, or the shape
and set up of their room baffles sound better.
Edited as a word slipped the filter, and I am attempting to not
swear too much here.

Earplugs, an iPod, anything like that maybe? And I'm with
Elfqueen on maintaining a polite fiction.

I agree about just ignoring the situation. It kind of sounds
like your in laws aren't allowing that, though. That would make
me so uncomfortable. I think I would just change the subject
quickly everytime they bring it up until they get the hint.

Auntie Venom! random snorgles.
We are ignoring it to the best of our abilities. Since the
weather has been unseasonably warm, we put a fan in the window,
and that helps A LOT! The other thing that works well, since
everyone has been dealing with the same cold o doom, is that if
they are being loud, the husband or myself justs starts
coughing, loudly. They realize we can hear them if they can hear
us, and it's not awkward, as hey, everyone is coughing in the
house right now!
