Sharing a house and loud sex

The spouse and I are living with his folks. Will be for about 3
more months, and have been fo a dang sight longer than that,
lol.
We share a bedroom wall with his folks, most of that wall is
closet, that is full on both sides, but i is a shared wall
nonetheless.
We all try and remain aware of this fact.
The issue, as it were, is that sometimes, no matter how awre of
the fact that you have someone right nearby whom you would
rather not hear, and rather not hear you, sometimes, it gets
noisy, that's just the way of things.
If it were a neighbor in an apartment, or a sibling, a simple
"Hey, keep it down next time!" or "Sounds like *someone* had fun
last night!" would suffice, bu really, is there any etiquette
for sitting down for breakfast and knowing that your in-laws had
really loud sex, or having them know that you did? IT can be
awkward, and unfortunately, avoiding that particular elephant in
the room isn't working any more. Help?

Ugh. We lived with my parents for six months while we were
house hunting, and I was SO self conscious about that. The only
way I could really get into it was to do it on the floor. ;D
Can I ask why it's not working to just ignore the situation? If
I were your in-laws, I certainly would rather just take that
tack than actually voice the topic.

PurpleyBlue- Without fail, one of the four adults involved will
either say something without thinking, say something that could
be construed as a PA jab by someone else, or infer something at
the table.
For example- if I or MIL happened to not sleep well, even if it
was unrelated to the in-laws having loud sex, and yawned at the
table, one ofthe kids owuld ask if I or MIL slept well, and it
would be on. OR, the FIL or MIL would make an offhand comment
without thinking, I would blush, the spouse would get his dander
up. It's not that avoiding it isn't an option, it just isn't a
viable option anymore. We have already been here for over 2
years, and I think the polite avoidance hit it's end point a few
months ago.
Also, we've always talked pretty openly about sex and the like,
never realizing the awkwardness it would bring in when you KNEW
the other party was actually engaging in said activity a few
hours earlier, because you heard, in graphic detail.

No one heard anything, no one saw anything, no one knows
anything. It's the only way for adults to live together.

I will try and do that, and recommend that the spouse do the
same. Maybe the in-laws will pick up on it.

Can you get one of those little machines that have ambient
noise? I've seen them for $20 and under. Just having that
extra repetitive sound really helps cover some of the noise
coming through the walls.

Music or a fan? Moving your bed as far from the shared wall as
possible? Sex in the shower? Wearing a gag (blindfold optional)?

This. I believe this is an appropriate time for "polite
fiction."

This is really the only way to go, I think. Do you have TV's in
your rooms? If I were you I would just turn on the TV just loud
enough to drown them out, or to cover yourself up.
Actually, what I would probably really do was wait until they
were out and sneak around like a 18 year old, but that's
probably not the most mature way to handle it!

We'll work on turning the TV up more when they are the one's
making the noise- the TV volume cannot bother them, at that
point. Otherwise, I told Spouse that we ignore, ignore, ignore,
and if they bring it up if we get loud, apologize, then ignore.
